Shame, but it's fun to know that he was strongly considering coming here.
Not really. I can think of 1000 cases where we were strongly considered and never won. So nothing surprising here.

Sometimes it's even worse to come in second.

Briere, shanahan, etc.

Nate Thompson ties it up on a hard working all-out hustle goal.

PHX traded Kale Kessy to EDM for Tobias Rieder.

I remember a lot of people here being high on Kessy. Rieder was/is a pretty interesting prospect himself.

I was high on both. Kessy for us as at one point, we wish he could have become our Lucic though with less offensive skills. And Rieder was all skills and crafty. 2 totally different types of prospects. But can fit the needs.

Right now, it,s more about Rieder with the highest ceiling, compared to Kessy with a better bet to be a NHL'er, though will be on the 4th line.

On paper, Phoenix got the better player, but I completely understand where Edmonton is coming from. Like most "next Lucic" types, Kessy is probably going to be nothing but a limited grinder, but I guess Edmonton figures they have enough finesse guys.

Oilers trade away a prospect they don't really need for a prospect they don't have.

Oh look, for like the 15234th time this season, the Flames host a team that played the night before in EDM or VAN. Which of course means a backup goalie is starting. The one and only Steve Mason.

That Rieder for Kessy MTL trade equivalent would be Bozon for Kessy, wouldn't it?

Glenn Healy summer of '97. Still not over that one even though it lead to Moog.

Pretty much, although I think the odds of Rieder making it are better than Kessy's odds.

Probably Hudon if you take into account draft position and size. Reider is an undersized 2way speedy type from what I've read. Oilers fans aren't happy about it.

I'm not impressed with Kessy. Clearly Edmonton is satisfied with their forward talent that they want to surround them with grit and size with Moroz and Kessy. I see 4th line upside for both.

Hudon > Rieder though.

And wow, Victoriaville eliminates Moncton in 5 games. Moncton went for broke with the Danault trade and they are finished.

Edmonton going all tough after all that kills they got. Future prospects like Kessy and Moroz will fill that 4th line.

Normand Flynn calls Travis Zajac an American.

Can RDS please get this guy off TV already?

What's the problem? He plays in Jersey..he's then an American. Just like Galchenyuk is a Russian and wasn't able to shine because of Grigorenko. That was Gaston Therrien. You do realize that if we move out every RDS guys who says a stupidity....we'd have no RDS?

Visnovsky just signed a 2 year extension for $9.5 million.

From doing everything possible to refuse to report to Long Island to signing an extension...wow.

Worse in the sense that it felt pretty insulting for a home town boy to dodge us like the flu for even less money. I was doing backflips in my living room when I heard he signed in philly. ****ing hate briere.
