For me it's of course my Bruins. I wasm't expecting a Stanley Cup from them and our D is still needs alot of work but...with reliable goaltending this year I thought we should play much better.

With Thornton,Murray,Samsonov and Rolston we are struggling to get something going on offense!

The only forward that shows signs of life is rookie Patrice Bergeron.

It was not a salary dump actually. It was the final attempt to get the team to work with Bruce Cassidy. Cassidy had taken away the speed and forecheck that used Konowalchuk's skills in favor of a passive trap.
Kono's problems with Cassidy were the same as Johansson and Klee's who had left the team and Konowalchuk had said he would not resign.
With Cassidy gone, I would prefer to have Kono back.

Battaglia has shown some life with the new coach.

Jonas Johansson will not be signed by the Capitals.

The Capitals are not salary dumping players.

this is FAR from the same team that made the playoffs last season.
Are you kidding me?
Last year the Caps dressed a very solid top 4 defensemen.
Gonchar-Klee and Johansson-Witt. Doig and Kwiatkowski played managered 3rd pair minutes.
For the last 7 games, the Caps defense has been. Gonchar-Eminger(19 year old rookie), Doig-Kwaitkowski-Berry rotating, with Zinger(11th on the organizationaly depth chart) getting an occasional shift.
The is one all star defenseman and 5 AHL players on defense.

On any given night the Caps have dressed as many as 10 of 18 skaters that have never played an entire season in the NHL.

The Capitals are a world class power play unit added onto a good AHL team this season. Last year's team was significantly different.
