Overpaid but the Islanders are an internal cap team so it doesn't really matter and he's played good for them.

I just wish players gave Islanders a chance before they feel like they are being deported...Nabokov and Visnovsky didn't want to go and now they are re-signed.

LI is a great place to live and the locker room seems to be pretty tight.

That's why I don't put much stock in the argument that Nino has to be traded, after his agent dissed Snow and Nino demanded a trade.

Well for the sake of argument Nabakov had a different reaction, he just felt no use coming to play for a team with so little games left in the season that has no chance of making the playoffs. He didn't seem to kick and fight after the fact and was pretty open to coming here(even at his reduced salary that the Islanders tolled him for)

Vish was more non stop drama

I don't think you read what I said. Lubo and his agent thought they had some form of a NTC clause in place, but then he got traded. It wasn't so much the destination he disputed but rather the fact that he got traded in the first place. Same thing would have happened if he got traded to say the Penguins.

I agree. I would like to compare him to Tambellini, where he actually has money to spend, and no excuse for not improving his team through signings.

Im not to familiar with Islanders situation , just really pulling for them to make playoffs, their fan base seems knowledgable and their hf fans on here very civil when in disscusions.

I don't see how this is an overpayment. His cap will be less next season than this season.

It's a great signing and a sign of good things to come.

Let's face it for the Islanders cap hit is not the issue. All that being said thinking about it for 10 minutes, chances are somebody would have given him roughly the same if we didn't sign him so 4.75M isn't that bad

Even if it is a slight overpayment, the Isles made a commitment and that in itself is a step forward. He's a good veteran and he'll be a positive influence on the room. Some teams have to overpay a bit. Good signing all the way around though.

So where are all those morons that were bashing Long Island and the Islanders when Viz didn't initially report?

He's here for less than 2 months, loves it, and decides to stay for 2 more years.

Great news for us.

First Nabby has a hissy fit and refuses to report....then he signs.

Then Lubo doesn't report for a multitude of reasons....but he signs as well.

And I'm sure if either of them wanted to test the open market, they'd find suitors, but they chose the Isles.

I thought the Isles were a farce and nobody wants to play there...
[confused]

Good for the Isles. Solid player and great to see the turn around from barely reporting after the lockout.

I agree..Hes a top 4 defensman and a top offenive defensman...

I think its a great deal...
esspecially when you consider the thin FA market....

Sombody would have giving him 5mil on july first...Even more so that its only 2 years..

I have no complaints about this deal...I love it and think its the right move...

With Vis signing and other dmen under contract and prospects knocking on the door, this will be a quiet off season for the Isles as far as FA signings...

Perfect time for Garth to make an impact trade
