He has shocked everyone by putting up those numbers.

I doubt he gets called up this year, but he's definitely established himself as a regular AHLer.

Pretty good story this year.

Don't underestimate the host-team factor here. In the playoffs a lot of your success is due to your commitment to winning. I think the Blades didn't play as hard as they would have if they didn't get a free ticket to the show, while their opponent did.

However, they should have put up a better show. It's a very bad thing to go into the Mem Cup after having six or seven weeks off.

I won a lunch with a friend who is a Blades fan. We bet on which team would go longer in the playoffs, the Blades or the Oil Kings. Who says there is no free lunch?

I never underestimate anyone, ever, both in sports and in life - it's how you get blindsided.

I just don't like the format for the MC where the host team automatically gets a bye. I'm not sure how they could do it differently though and still guarantee having a well planned tournament with bums in the seats. It almost seems like Saskatoon did their best to ensure that they go into the MC well rested and with no injuries and didn't worry about competing. I'm of the firm belief that the main reason we had a poor showing last year at the MC was due to the last series against Portland. It was an extremely hard fought series that probably exasperated any injuries guys were playing with and wore them down physically. It caused them to peak early.

Whether it was a "strategic" move or just not caring, only they know for sure. We'll find out come May long weekend!

You never know for sure what can happen but the Blades showed they were over-confident and cocky. Not familar with their injury list but if they need Astles to get better then they won't be a factor in the MC. Watching the playoff games, they are leadership and the major additions at the trade deadline didn't make a difference in the playoffs.

Tomorrow's Oil Kings game will be on Sportsnet.
The game is at Rexall Place with tickets as cheap as $20ish
With a win the Oil Kings move on to the next round.
I think?

Oilers 2nd round pick Mitch Moroz got hammer into the boards resulting in a 5 min major and game misconduct for the ice
This game and series should be in the bag, the paper bag

Curtis Lazar's go ahead goal in the second was ridiculous.

I was really hoping he'd be around for Edmonton's first round pick this year but if he keeps it up he's going to be picked earlier.

That would be economists. Even if the lunch is free for you, someone else is paying for it.

The Oil Kings didn't have a very good game tonight but they beared down after that failed five minute powerplay and closed it out and that's what good teams do.

That's how I saw it as well. They did, however, play pretty well near the beginning.

Yeah, their normally strong, borderline dominant defensive game wasn't very good tonight either despite only yielding 1 goal. They allowed far too many odd-man rushes and breaks but Brossoit was very sharp. It continues to boggle my mind that he was passed over in Team Canada's camp. He just thrives in playoff-type situations.

The shot guy must have been sleeping in the first period. He missed three shots that I counted. Add two for the OKs and one for the Ice.

The OKs slept for most of the game also. They had better play better against the Hat.

Pretty undisciplined start to the game, luckily they have a great PK.
Lazar is unbelievably polished defensively, the some of the plays he makes away from the puck are so fun to watch.

Does anyone know if Moroz came back after he was taken into the boards? Rexall beers are making my memories hazy.

Yeah moroz came back and he seemed to come back with a vengeance. I haven't liked moroz this playoffs. He isn't fighting or hitting and looks lost out there. Hopefully he can step it up against med hat
