Bachman picks up win for Stars while facing 0 shots

Lehtonen had a pad issue in the 3rd period and left the ice to get it repaired. Benn scored on the 5 on 3 and Lehtonen returned to the ice a couple of minutes later. Minnesota then scored a meaningless goal in garbage time to make the game 5-3 and make the 4th goal the winner. Is it time this obviously flawed rule gets changed?

I don't think this insanely specific set of circumstances merits a rule change.

Kari Lehtonen was on the ice for every single shot the Wild had against Dallas tonight, but he was off the ice due to an equipment issue for 2 and a half minutes, which happened to be when the GWG was scored. Because Bachman was on the ice for the goal, he is credited with the win despite not facing a single shot.

This is pretty funny, but I think it also displays a pretty glaring issue with the way the current rule is in determining which goalie gets the win.

It also sucks because I'm in a close matchup in fantasy hockey and I was robbed of a win.

EDIT: I apologize, a thread was made a few minutes ago and I forgot to refresh the main board before posting the thread. Move/delete.

Kari is clearly past his prime, I just dropped him for Bachman.

How could you change it to make it any more fair? There is always a chance of a fluke happening.

You guys are forgetting you have to account for the possibility of a goaltender having a 4 leaf clover up their ass. If Bachman doesn't come in maybe Ben doesn't score and Lehtonen gives up tree goals

Ok, so you play the first 35 minutes and make 20 saves and are up 3-0.

Your backup comes in, plays like garbage, and the teams loses 6-5 in the shootout.

Who should could get the loss? Personally think the current system is likely the best option.

Well why would the backup come in? Just because?

If we're gonna change the system based on a flukey outcome, you have to make sure the new system is immune to flukey outcomes. Crazy hypotheticals are needed!

Let's say the starter gets a bad case of boneitis and has to leave the game.

It's flawed to give goaltenders wins.

If it's a win, the goalie who made the most saves

If goalies tie in saves, the starter gets the W

If it's a loss, the goalie in net who gave up the GWG

If the game winning goal is scored into an empty net for some strange reason? The goalie in net immediately prior to vacating that net takes the L in this rare case

The league has many more glaring issues than this... Maybe next time Lehtonen will tie his straps tighter to appease all his fantasy owners.

That seems like a lot more rules than are needed to fix something that's a total non-issue. The worst that's come of it is some angry fantasy hockey owners.

Yeesh. Bachman can start making black holes and other issues with singularity with that save percentage.

I guess that's how he did it: he made black holes and the pucks just disappear.
