IMO, this isnt a recent development. Gaborik and Richards were still going strong then, but this teams struggles are more than that.
Yea, don't get rid of our streaky goal scorer. Get rid of the coach who finally destroyed the country club environment that existed even through the Renney years. Get rid of the coach who has brought along Del Zotto, McDonagh, Stepan, Hagelin, and Anisimov (amongst others), and is continuing to bring youth into the lineup.

Yea, I keep the 31 year-old goal scorer every time over that coach.

Seems like it's starting to creep back.

8th, 9th and now possibly 8th-10th this year. .. 3 out of his four years here he has S U C K E D. When did we start accepting worse than even mediocrity?

If you remove Renneys in season pre-lockout take over (different rules, pre-lundqvist, took over a mess of a team etc..) his record is almost exactly the same as Torts. Just saying. Renney avg 96.2 pts/year Torts so far 95.7

How much talent did he have to work with, up until last season? 3 out of his 4 years our roster has S U C K E D.

Oh, so you agree. So he's been good up until now. That's a start.

This year? Who knows. Does anyone have an answer?

Maybe he didn't expect Gaborik to become a ghost on the LW. Maybe he didn't expect Staal to miss significant time. Maybe he didn't expect Richards to never get going. Maybe he expected Boyle to show some competence in the offensive zone, considering he's one of the few "depth" forwards that remained from last season.

Maybe a team with 50% forward turnover needed a training camp. A team who lost significant pieces of our depth. Look at our bottom six. You expect anything else?

Who knows. I'll give him a mulligan with a lockout-shortened season, especially one right after we finished first in the conference.

1. His choice to play Gaborik out of position. When he realized it wasn't working could have easily moved him back. Instead he plays him with Boyle and supposedly Newbury/Pyatt tonight. That's gonna help?
2. Same defensive core as last year - Staal missed a lot of time last year
3. Lol richards
4. You make it sound like we are the only team that had a lot of turnover. This is untrue.

No he hasn't been good up to now. and THE #1 reason its time for him to go? Look at the effort most Rangers are putting in.. that's reason #1 to show him the door. Oh and of course it was his dumb ass that put Gaborik out of position because a LW we brought in he decided he would switch him to RW. This doesn't even count all the favoritism he shows

1. Sorry I expect my 7.5 mil a year winger to adapt. I'm not asking for 50 goals, I'm looking for some competence. He's been an absolute ghost some games. And even in the games the Gaborik apologists say he was "great," he still hasn't scored.
2. True, but when out bottom-6 sucks (no forecheck, poor backchecking) the defense suffers.
3. That's Torts' fault?
4. Look at the elite teams. How much turnover did Boston have? Or LA? Or Chicago? Or Pitt? Pitt's roster is different recently because they added without subtracting much. We added Nash, and subtracted a whole lot.

Please tell me the Rangers who aren't putting in effort. Then look at that list and ask how many of them should be on the team, regardless of the coach.

Or the guy who was brought in here as a LW should play there and k keep the Rangers best scorer in his natural position.. imagine that

With the way Nash has been playing at RW, no, don't think so.

You're blind if you think Gaborik's a better RW, or player, than Nash.

And you know he was "brought in here as a LW" how? Guarantee it was Sather's and Torts' intentions to play him at RW from the get-go.

Yea Gaborik and Richards have sucked all year. I want Gabby out, and Richie should be bought out regardless of the season he has next year.

And one game from Callahan, as you said. Clearly he's tanking and didn't have a bad game like the rest of the entire team did.

If that's the case they r bigger fools than I thought. Rangers already hard Gaborik (41) and callahan (29) last year. We had no competent lw other than hags since kreider was an unknown. and Nash has played the majority of his career on LW. But hey nash does look good on the RW at the expense of the Rangers most prolific goal scorer in how long looks lost not playing his natural side

Legwand for Boyle, JT Miller and a 3rd
Could see Slather try something like this - plus another minor deal sending off Pyatt somewhere.
Not advocating this - just trying to get into the head of the dark Jedi force...

Nash has had a couple of 40 goal seasons playing LW. Gaborik has had all of his high scoring seasons as a RW. Even if Nash looks a bit better on the right this year, it doesn't make any sense from a team perspective because the other top winger certainly can't be productive on the left.

Using your own logic to its extreme conclusion, should I expect my versatile $7.8 mill. winger to adapt to playing center? Then Richards can be dropped to the 3rd line where his play can do the least amount of damage and Nash can center Gaborik on the right and Kreider on the left.

Sure the above would be stupid, but no more so than Torts continuing to play Gaborik in positions he's not good at.

The Rangers aren't re-signing Gaborik at the end of his contract. Get a good deal and move him out.

I personally would wait until the draft
But if the right offer comes along the next 4 days - well-
WHAM

WE GOT JAM
MAM

Just do it (something Nike is probably regretting as using as their slogan nowadays considering Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong and Blade Runners escapades)

Well more than Renney had. Yeah he had Jagr, but the rest was much much worse than now.

Whether its in 4 days or 3 months, everyone knows the cap is set at $64.3M. The Rangers aren't going to miss Gaborik's production. He hasn't produced this season.
