Montreal!!!

Hey all, I'm leaving Hartford soon and headed up to Montreal for the game tomorrow night. Just wondering if anyone else is making the trek or lives up that way that may be able to give me some insight on what to expect or any locations that I need to see/eat at.

Hoping for a Rangers victory and not just because we need it, but because it's always nice to see your team win, especially on the road.

Let's Go Rangers!!!

I live in Montreal and was invited to this game, but declined.

I'll go to the awesome insanity that is the Bell Center against another team, watching them crush the Rangers to ear-drum busting cheers and that damn ole song is just too much to bear, lol. Doesn't help that I'm basically a full on Quebecer at this point and all my friends are Habs adoring francophones who love nothing more than poking me about this.

All that said, enjoy the city man. It's a great place, and there are many reasons I moved up here from NYC. Still love NYC, but Montreal is just a completely different experience that's equally awesome in it's own way. There are many things I can suggest to check out but my answer will depend on who you are. Age range, music preference, flying solo or with a group (make up of that group...), budget, etc. I'll check back and try to advise.

Also, you're coming up at a GREAT moment. Tomorrow is supposed to be around 9-10C (close to 50F) and sunny. This is basically the first week we've been having these kinds of temps and that the sun is busting out with this warmth (10 is really warm to us right now after this Winter...) on a Saturday means the city will be electric. Just really comes alive, out of hibernation. People are ecstatic.

Montreal is high on the list of cities I'd love to visit, especially to check out a Habs game (against a non-Rangers opponent). Have fun!

I had my bachelor party up there, so not sure if that applies to your plans.

I hope so. It was a lot of fun, from what I remember.

eat at schwartz's on st.laurent street

legendary smoked meat joint. open since 1928. there will be a lineup to get in. the experience is worth it and the sandwich will cost under 7$ which is a bargain. i recommend sitting at the "bar" on a stool.

Yeah you could offer me a free trip to the game, I'm all set. I'm good. I don't need to sit through that, I can barely handle it in my own home,

Hope you have a good time and we pull off a miracle. I'll be in some park until the game is over. Its truly came to that point for me.

I was at the rangers-Habs game there Super Bowl Sunday 2008. It was a afternoon game. I think we came back from 3 goals down to win. Then watched the giants beat the pats that evening at the Marriott next door (where I was staying and apparently some of Chris Higgins' family and friends too as I saw rooms with Higgins decorations outside). Then went out and party at some "friendly" clubs (one was Wanda's where I saw leech and fleury many years ago). Then went back to the Marriott. Slept 2 hours and drove home. I will always remember that weekend.

Hope you will have a memorable one too. The rangers CAN win up there. One of my favorite places to watch hockey. Especially at the beginning, when they turn the lights down and blasting U2's Bad and then little kids come flying out to the ice waving the Habs flag skating end to end. I wish they do that at the Garden.

LGR!

That's like investing Saab retroactively.

I suggest visiting the Bell Centre.
It's kind of like the Coliseum in ancient Rome, but instead of throwing slaves to the lions, they are throwing the Rangers to the Habs.

Good blood sport.

Hell yes! Montreal is legendary for their food. Smoked meat is near the top of the list.

Whatever you do, do not drive (seriously, they're a bunch of lunatics). If you have to drive, remember no right turns permitted on red lights in Quebec. The police there love to ding any Ontario/US plates they see for anything.

Do yourself a favor and dont go there. Its a tourist trap. Theres a place across the street called maison du biftheque . so much better than schwartzs plus they serve beer and the service is fast.
