There is a good reason Kaberle is on waivers, he stinks now.

Carlyle worries me in handling Gardiner. Holzer was a complete stooge for ten plus games, total nightmare in every facet, and he kept playing him, Gards is under the microscope, complete double standard. Judging by his comments yesterday it is obvious Carlyle was pressured into calling up Gardiner, his lack of patience is telling.

well that's what I mean?
Can't Kaberle play those minutes? and it would just cost us cap space - not any assets. is there anyone else out there we can nab?

No lol he can't. If you thought he was soft before, good lord you should see him now. "Ironman" and "play with Phaneuf" and "Kaberle" should not be in the same sentence ever again.

Have you even watched Kabs the last couple years? There is a reason he lives in the press box. I'd rather have Mc Cabe back

He really can't. He's no where close to what he used to be.

No confirmation, but Reimer most likely starting since he's on 1 day's rest, and is 4-0 in Ottawa.

I think you are overstating the case. He did not play well and made mistakes but RC saw him as a guy who might be able to handle the rough stuff if he turned it around. It didn't happen.

Its not a double standard but rather a matter of looking for something specific that he wants on D and isn't getting.

I think Nonis will have to get another competent big on D and find a take for Liles if we hope to see Gards regularly. That is not what I want but what I suspect is going on.

As Carlyle mentioned, at this point of the season, it's about winning games now, not player development. Yes it's a shame for Gardiner, but Carlyle is in the home stretch now of trying to make the playoffs.

Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if it's him as he's really good against them.

4 hours and 45 minutes....

Till then...I wonder if Gards will have a stronger defensive game and if JVR break out of his slump.

Kaberle is a shell of what he was. He is NOT the Kaberle we knew and loved and he is definitely not a minute eater anymore.

He had one bad season with the Hurricanes, and clearly the move from Toronto affected him. People are overstating how far Kaberle has dropped. His numbers with the Canadiens are actually not that bad.

If he wasn't that bad he wouldn't be on waivers.

Never thought Kaberle was quite the same since that hit he took against NJ. Too bad since for a long time was a great guy to have on the blueline. Sure, he didn't shoot much but while McCabe was there he really didn't have to.

So no one should claim a player on waivers under any circumstances? The market is not perfectly efficient like you believe it is. Montreal simply wants to see if anyone would take Kaberle for free before discussing negative value trades, and I think there is a team out there that will. Also, Montreal is deep on D.

I would guess that Montreal would be able to trade Kaberle if they took salary back, but I think they don't want to do that right now, and they would rather give him away for free.

Now we have Phaneuf to take those wicked slappers that miss the net 9/10 times.
