21,000,000$ I doubt Molson has that kind of liquid available. I doubt any owner in the league would even consider it without some serious, serious motivation. The motivation would have to be Tavares, a couple of 1sts and the trading GM's contract signed in blood stating that they'll make the conference finals in 21 games every year until the investment is paid off. Also ticket prices would rise too.

It's like absurd to even think about and Molson being the greedy slimerball that he's shown to be, I doubt he'll do it for anything.
If it's absurd to think about it, why does one have to be a slimerball to be against it?

Are you a slimerball, too?

I don't think that Geoff Molson has done ANYTHING to warrant being called names like that. Every business tries to turn a profit, which is perfectly legit if done honestly, and it seems to me that Molson is a man of his word.

That puts us over the maximum, so we have one body too many. And Weber, at this point, is still young enough to keep.
You can carry as many players as you want after the deadline and Diaz/Bourque won't be back before it, so no, I don't think the roster spot has much to do with it. Purely trying to see if someone will bite on taking the contract and save us a buyout.

It's 8 years left on DiPietro's deal, but the buyout is spread over twice as long, so 16 years.

I can't believe some of you think Tavares is a target in such a trade. Bettman would veto that trade, no doubt about it.

I dont see him being claimed. The cap next year is WAY to tight. Unless you want a 'PP specialist' for the rest of the year and plan to buy him out?...

I dont see it at all.

Where the hell is this TAVARES to MONTREAL rumours coming from?

Exactly. First, it doesn't make sense for Molson (waaayy too much money involved). And the league won't let a struggling franchise deal a superstar for purely financial reasons.

So... yep, we should all go out and get some fresh air!

Reading five pages and over one hundred posts.
I still see only one explanation that makes sense:
Trying to offer Kaberle for free.

Kaberle on waivers....good news on a Saturday. You can almost guarantee that MB goes after a veteran D Man at the deadline. Habs have a cupboard full of prospects and are in a position of strength. They need to "go for it"

From what I understand it's from this crazy idea that we would help out Wang in taking over Dipietro's contract, but the asking price for that would be to also give us Tavares.

Makes no sense whatsoever.

nobody wants Thom Cadbury. Nobody wants his gooey soft play. Another year at 4+ mill? with cap going down? Maybe if we eat 1/2 salary. maybe. maybe bowman went comatose and vegan skeletor is making gm decisions in chi-town

Any rumour surrounding Charles Wang that doesn't benefit his team makes perfect sense. That guy is a Looney Tunes character.

I think the way he's raised ticket and concession prices has been very unfair and abusive to the Montreal fanbase. There's nothing legit about "optimum" ticket prices and 9$ beers that cost 0.10$.

Habs should call leafs, komo for kaberle....
Put Komo back with Markov.

If Komo plays ok,offer him 2 million 2 yr deal in offseason.

We created it If Islanders want us to buy Dipietro off their hands then we need Tavares as a bonus.
PK and JT reunited again and it feels good.

Great timing by Bergevin ...free veteran offensive d-man given what Doug Murray returned. He might get picked up.

Good luck to him if he does... Kaberle is a pro... not a complaint once despite his playing time.
