Wonder what Weber did to Molson and management, to never get a chance?

Development stalled after rookie year in AHL.

Regressed in second Ahl season.

Didn't impress enough in a number of NHL trials.

Is a small PMD on a team with too many small PMD.

Hasn't impressed the coach in practices.

Is being pursed by a flock of talented young defensemen.

We just have a lot of depth on D this year.

I imagine that at least one or two of the above options are
worth considering. But you may be right, and there is some arcane
anti-Weber conspiracy. Or maybe he just kicked Molson's dog.

Much simpler, more straight forward, and a lot more elegant, than
my response. I resent that.

I thought Weber was doing well in the NHL when he was paired with Hamrlik.
After that he didn't really get a strong chance. He was flipflopped around between offense and defense, getting multiple different partners on defense.
You have a small young prospect being moved around from offense to defense with different partners while also going through periods of being healthy scratch, and you wonder why he's been stalling/regressing??

This year, he got to play 10min in his first game (the team's 4th one). Like everybody's 1st game, he didn't look that great. He got scratched, and had to wait another month and a half to play another 7min. To make matters worse for him, he got injured.

We've done pretty much everything possible to kill this prospect. It's really not surprising he's going nowhere.

Strangely enough, Weber looked best when the rest of the team was going downhill. That was in 09/10.

It doesn't make sense that he would play relatively well as a newcomer, and then just go to ****. He's player in dire need of a change in scenery. Whatever chance he has in stopping his regression will have to come in another city. I think he's mentally shot here.

Bergevin is evaluating the Dmen and clearing out the excess baggage. I ask Weber's supporters: What has he contributed to the Habs that makes him worth keeping? Name one Dman on the roster or among the top prospects in Hamilton whom Weber should replace.

The same management that kept Gomez and all the other goofballs this team employed? Hardly doubt there isn't more to it than that.

Not the same management. Current management fired Gomez.

Maybe getting Bourque back will stop the Clowe rumors.

Unless he flew back to Atlanta after the game, it should be in Montreal as he was spotted at the Bell during the game.

I'm no supporter of Weber but right now he can't do worse than any of Ds on the second pairing unit of the PP. We have Bouillon and Gorges, guys with limited offensive flair.

Yes he can. He handles the puck like a hot potato and has shown a greater ability to cough it up and cause an odd man rush the other way.

While its frustrating to see 55-26 on the PP, I am at least more assured that they won't allow a SH opportunity.

His minimal impact he'd have in his 30 seconds of 2nd unit PP time doesnt make up for the fact his 15 minutes of ES ice time is not nearly on par with the rest of the defense core.

He really would be the dream acquisition for the Habs at this point. Need to score big goals and create room. Clowe does only one of those things. We aren't afraid of any teams, so I am not so concerned about gooning. It doesn't happen in the playoffs at the same level, anyway.

Pleeeease get healthy, Rene!

Already 3 good pieces of news today.

A this rate, Kristo will be signed by noon, MB will rob someone in a trade by 3 PM, we'll find a way to extend Subban to a sweet contract even though we can't until July and we'll shutout the Hurricanes 8-0 tonight.

Once Bourque is 100% healthy, his main issue will be confidence. He was great this season because he was fearless. It'll take him a few games to regain that physicality without fear of injury, not to mention regaining his timing. Ideally, he should come back a couple of weeks before the playoffs.

If he's skating, there's a good chance he's on track for that.
