Yeah, I'm not sure if the organization is so high on Puempel anymore. From what I've seen at the prospect camp he's been unimpressive.

Aragorn, you really need to do some research befor posting at times. Sorensen was noted by the Sens brass as very chippy player and was suspended a couple times because of it.

He does do his research.

It's called "Size and Weight"

Re-Posting in case it gets lost in the last page

I asked Gare Joyce's (former scout and author if you don't know who he is.) opinion on Puempel as he was talking about Reider and Murphy and here's what he said:

Quote:
Gare Joyce ‏@GareJoyceNHL 2m

@no_worriezz Funny u ask. Talked about MP w/ scout. Skating a minus but he finds his way into traffic + puck is always goes 2 him.

Gare Joyce ‏@GareJoyceNHL 2m

@no_worriezz Would say his stock has fallen but some scouts saw him as only third-rounder or so at the time.

I think its a little troubling that Puempel is a minus skater, not a stand out defensive player, and not overy physical, and also that injury was a little troubling, but I still believe its short sighted to be down on him.

He was a late first, and the last third of first round picks tend to have about a 40-50% chance of making the show, and that number may be a little high.

Look at all that talent on the Rangers, yeah they underperformed as a team, but Puempel was still the MVP. He also won rookie of the year his first one, and was most likely going to improve his numbers as the man on the Petes before he lost the season.

Goal scoring is a very valuable trait to have, and thats obviously his best asset. As he matures, and especially in our system his defense should improve to at least average imo.

I've always harped on that pick but I can't deny that the kid has natural goal scorer's hands and a nack for being in those open areas. He needs to pretty much work on every area of his game but the strengths he possesses as a player can't be taught. Give him a couple years in Bingo and then we'll see where he's at. It's undeniable though that he's only been trending downwards since his rookie season in the O.

I've always been a big Gare Joyce fan as a scout. Dude's been around a long time and knows his ****. I'm hoping Puempel can become a more complete player under coach Luke in Bingo, but I wouldn't be shocked if he busted.

Yeah...Puempel has always been iffy to me. I didn't mind it much at draft time because of how some scouts had said he was the best pure goal scorer in the draft class, but it's clear that the rest of his game is severely lacking. I remember wanting Rattie or Jurco at the time, and Saad probably would have been a great pick there too.

Does anyone know if Pageau plays right wing? I feel like he's not really going to get a chance with Ottawa unless he can transition to the wing.

What a difference a few years makes. We had virtually nothing when Murray took over. Elliott has turned into Bishop, Lehner, Anderson, Driedger, and Brassard.
Would love to get my hands on one of those 'In the System' UpperDeck cards with those 5 goalies on it.

He's a writer. Sure he's around the game in that capacity, but let's not confuse the terms.

OK, my bad. He's a 'scout' similarly to Bob McKenzie. Real good evaluation of talent, regardless.

ceci 2a and +1 as the attack takes a 3-2 series lead.
rutkowski 1a as the hawks now lead 3-1
brassard lost with 25 saves on 27 shots. remparts still lead 3-2
puempel 1a and -1 as the rangers win theor series 4-1. they would face ceci if the attack advances.

Neither guys value has changed that much since the draft, and Driedger went in the third while Brassard was taken in the sixth.

If you're able fully evaluate a player from a prospect camp I suggest you apply for a scouting position with a NHL team. You'd be highly coveted.

Well I could see that he was 5 feet nothing & would get the **** kicked out of him in the NHl or even the AHL if he was to be as chippy as you said he is.

Marcus Sorensen is taller than Sidney Crosby.

I'm pretty sure if Aragorn and Bruiser had a choice between Crosby and Lucic they'd pick Lucic.

And Lucic would beat the crap out of Crosby & put him out of the game & it wouldn't be a problem any more.

Yes but the way to win a hockey game is to score more goals than the other team.

I'd take ONE Crosby before TWO Lucic
