Haha, wow... yeah, I have listened to I don't even know how many broadcasts and they ALWAYS point that out, but it never clicked. I'll use the excuse that I'm not from Pittsburgh.

At any rate, that pretty much blows the Aspen dental / mall dentist theory out of the water.

I would think he will be wearing a cage for a bit no matter when he comes back.

Folks.. what the hell is going on here? Calm down and let's wait for news. If the bickering continues - you will get banned from the board. Enough is enough.

Can we put everyone on IR, and just play w/ WBS players until the playoffs start?

Sid shoudl be back very soon.

Martin should be back in 4 weeks. If I could play softball 35 days after hand surgery, surely he can make it back by then.

Sidney Crosby is still in a Pittsburgh Hospital and he could stay there overnight. #pensuins #RDS

The thing that stood out to me was that Sid immediately stood up and looked okay. He didn't look in ridiculous pain or anything.

I'm sure if it was the playoffs, he'd be back on Tuesday. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised, or angry, if they sat him for a week.

How could this cause a concussion? Watched it numerous times on replay, his head never snaps, twists, moves, or anything. Seems that the full impact was right on the mouth. I'm kind of puzzled why anyone has even mentioned it.

These are my thoughts as well. Sid never looked "out of it" just bloodied up. I don't doubt he's on some nice juicy painkillers right now though. Rest him up for the games that matter.

In the meantime, I'm sure Shero will trade for some other team's captain to fill the gap.

Can we just post updates and not people's diagnosis on what they think he may have. When you come back on here several hours later you have to go thru a couple pages before you actually find out anything

I can't really think of any dental diagnosis that would keep him in the hospital overnight.

Does Crosby have a girlfriend? Or anyone at his house to keep an eye on him? When my gf had to have oral surgery back in September, they let her go because she had someone to keep an eye on her all night. It's purely precaution, I would assume.

Nothing to be worried about yet.

If they gave him general anesthesia they might just be keeping him for observation.

He was probably put under for multiple teeth and they don't want to send him home under his own power.

If he's staying overnight.
I'm guessing it's a broken jaw.(purely speculative here)

Man that would suck.

That would be my thought as well. Though that would also comment on the severity of the injury, given that he couldn't be given a local for it.

edit: it's kind of weird that we are getting updates on if he's staying overnight at the hospital, but not on the type of injury or surgery...

I'm not a doctor, but after watching the replay I'd guess that Sid has an upper body/facial injury.

A hockey puck, traveling at a high velocity, hit him in the head. I am not making any diagnosis here; just answering your question. Lots of boxers get kocked out by a shot to the jaw.
