Are you suggesting something around Hall, Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins or Yakupov for Byfuglien?

If so, I think you probably already know what the Oilers would likely think of that.

If we're moving a top 6 youngster for a Jets dman its probably going to be Bogo before Buff

Just read a new Whitney to Boston rumour.

Ryan Whitney to Boston for Jordan Caron and a draft pick.

I used to really like Caron as a prospect but he's really lost some clout over the past two years.

As long as the Pick is decent I wouldn't mind. Power forwards take a long time to mature. His skating is better than Harski's and it would allow you to move Jones without batting an eye.

Two Hotstove things to note:

1) Friedman believes Hemsky to Boston is slim to none of happening
2) Friedman said Raffi Torres may be available. I'll take him back on Edmonton for a chance at the playoffs, he could be the 4th line LW, hits and scores some goals.

Caron and a 1st and I do it. No reason to give up Whitney for anything less.

I wouldn't do it till deadline day, and we'd better be at least 4 pnts out of it. Deep draft tells me 2 firsts is invaluable. CBJ is in a good spot.

Whitney's not going to get anyone a 1st. Caron+ a 2nd is plenty - I'd happily do that. I doubt Boston would though.

I don't see why they don't pick up Tomas Kaberle off of waivers again. Brings everything Whitney does, plus he's a known commodity on their team.

I think Whitney has rebuilt his trade value somewhat but I'm not sure anyone would be willing to give up a 1st for him, Leopold just went for a 2nd I don't think Whitney is a prospect and a better pick better than Leopold.

Do you have the link for that, wouldn't mind reading it. I would do Caron and a 2nd for Whitney.

If we are still 1-3 points out of a playoff spot come Wed and the following players are not resigned who do you trade and who do you keep.
Whitney
Smid
Fistric
Jones

We're not in a selling position right now. Maybe at deadline it goes down to Whitney for Caron and a 2nd. But no sense on dealing him and losing him for the playoff run(knock on wood). If we drop out before Wednesday sure, but if were within 4 points then were better off keeping him IMO.

It's just a guy on Twitter who posts Oilers rumours. They're usually pretty realistic looking so I give him some credence.

The guy who tweeted the Caron/Pick for Whitney rumour says that the Oilers want goaltender Niklas Svedberg instead of Caron but the Bruins aren't willing to part with him.

It'll be interesting to see how much money Kadri makes this off-season for the TML when thinking about an RNH extension.

His >point/game pace on a team bound for the playoffs could land him more than Hall/Ebs on a long-term deal.
$6.25x6?

If RNH has another sub-par year offensively (which I'm secretly hoping he does next year, ~0.8-0.9 point/game while playing Backstrom-level 2-way game) I think we could convince him to take less than Hall/Ebs on the extension.

I understand where you'd be coming from, but there's no way the Jets are moving Bogo. Our D will be built around him and Trouba.

I think the Oilers are more desperate to obtain defence and goaltending than Winnipeg is for scoring.

I really like the Oilers and most of the players that make up your team, but there's only about a 3 year window for them to do something before the Oilers won't be able to afford all their talent. That being said, the Oilers are a D-man or 2 and definitely a legit starting goalie away from being a threat to make/do anything in the playoffs.

Can someone please explain to me why the hell we would trade Smid and who do we have to replace him? I think we would be stupid to trade him and we have no one to replace him!

If you can get a first round pick for Whitney you have to pull the trigger. Anything more than a second round pick, buh bye.

Realistically I think Whitney brings back a middling prospect and a 3rd.

No team will give up a top prospect for him... still too many question marks around his long term mobility.

As I've said before though... I'd like a bigger body for the bottom 6 as the return... but hard to see a team giving up that type of player for Whitney at this point.

Like I said, I only give his posts credence because they're usually pretty realistic looking. When Oilers fans pipedream about Lucic he shuts them down immediately.

"SAN JOSE – The Sharks appear to be moving closer towards trading left wing Ryane Clowe.

A source has informed CSNCalifornia.com that the Sharks have approached Clowe’s agent about the possibility of waiving his no-trade clause, and a deal could happen as soon as Sunday.

Boston, Montreal and the New York Rangers appear to be the most likely destinations. Sharks director of pro scouting John Ferguson, Jr. was in Philadelphia for the Bruins-Flyers game on Saturday afternoon. He flew to Montreal for the Canadiens-Rangers game later that day, according to RDS’ Ren Lavoie.

Ferguson also attended the Bruins’ home game with Montreal on Wednesday."
