Kevin Kurz covers the Sharks for Comcast Bay Area

He is having a chat about the Sharks

http://www.scribblelive.com/Event/Sh...n_Kurz_--_Noon

Someone asked about Boyle to the Rangers

Quote:
Only if you get one or a few top prospects back, like a Kreider or McDonagh back, but I don't think the Rangers would do that
http://www.scribblelive.com/Event/Sh..._Noon/69785197

Earlier in the chat,Kurz said the Sharks want a young top #1 D in return for Boyle

Quote:

http://www.scribblelive.com/Event/Sh..._Noon/69784812

37 year old Dan Boyle

50/50 Clowe is dealt. Wilson wants #1 pick plus for Clowe.

I wouldn't trade them McDonagh if THEY added on to it.

McDonagh isn't a prospect anymore, WTF are they talking about?

No GM would trade McDonagh for a 37 year old defender! Lets start looking for something else if the SJ players are going to cost that much.

Look what Iggy just cost and he's scored 30+ every season for over a decade... with mediocre help.

It's from someone who works for their TV station.

Would you take something Bill Pidto said this seriously? (don't answer that, Bob Richards)

The first mistake was trading for Jagr and surrounding him with his posse. That was a total waste. Hardly anyone from those teams is still here. Those were stopgap teams, except the stop gaps are supposed to hold you over in years where you get high picks. We didn't do that.

The second mistake was trying to surround those aging players with terrible free agent signings instead of realizing that those teams were miserably flawed and needed to be scrapped.

Mistake three was signing Gaborik instead of dismantling and getting high picks, or at least being patient and getting a legit dynamic multi talent like Kovalchuk.

Chance after chance to rebuild and get a high draft pick to develop a great top line forward was passed over.

You don't go anywhere in this league without some homegrown franchise forwards anchoring your top line (even te year the Bruins won the Cup, Crosby was out). Not only did the Rangers refuse to go through a natural rebuild, but the one chance they had where a top line prospect fell into their laps, they drafted a role player defenseman.

This team does everything backwards, and what you get in they case is what we have now: not bad, but certainly not good enough.
There are some very good points made here that I agree with. But there are different ways to create a good hockey team. The reality in New York is that the Rangers and their fan base do not have the luxury nor the mentality to start from scratch. So getting that generational, game breaking talent (Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin) is very unlikely to come the Rangers way thru the draft any time soon.

As someone mentioned above building around a core of Hank, Callahan, McDonaugh, Stepan, et. al. is far from the worst you could do. We have some interesting question marks in the pipeline right now: Kreider, Hags, Miller and a few others. We simply do not know what will happen with these prospects. There could be some gems in there along with a few busts. The fact is that the prospect pipe line today is far better than it has been decades.

Sting and I disagree on this but I continue to believe that McIlrath will wind up being much more than an average defenseman.

Keep in mind though, some people think there are only 10 first line centers and #1 defensemen in the league.

Potential #1 dman? Hmmm.. well Mcdonagh is already a #1 dman so clearly its not him. Staal is a #1 dman on most teams. so maybe Boyle for Skjel

I think we're all hoping that the real deadline pickup for the Rangers is they get their heads out of their ***** and start playing to the best of their ability. That would be better than any player we get back in a trade.

good points.. he's only goin to get better.. the thing i like about him is hes a rink/gym rat.. hes always trying to improve, get better and to go along with that he has the right attitude... i think sky is the limit..

we're good now and into the future with Step and Miller being as young as they are.. I think miller will contribute.. may take time but hes big part of the answer too..

ging fwd i want richards, as bad as he has been to get one more year here.. then of course be bought out.. Nice options in 14' Stasny, Malkin hopefully so we could put all our eggs in that basket..

Rumoured teams to be trading for Clowe: MTL, BOS, NYR.

Quote:
SAN JOSE – The Sharks appear to be moving closer towards trading left wing Ryane Clowe.

A source has informed CSNCalifornia.com that the Sharks have approached Clowe’s agent about the possibility of waiving his no-trade clause, and a deal could happen as soon as Sunday.

Boston, Montreal and the New York Rangers appear to be the most likely destinations. Sharks director of pro scouting John Ferguson, Jr. was in Philadelphia for the Bruins-Flyers game on Saturday afternoon. He flew to Montreal for the Canadiens-Rangers game later that day, according to RDS’ Ren Lavoie.

Ugh. I don't want Clowe. This season is probably a wash. Might as well just retain our bearings and head into the next season.
