Keep telling yourself that. He's not playing because he's useless. Where are these late firsts and 2nd rounders we were suppose to get for him

I'm sure not wanting him to get hurt is involved in the their thinking, but if he was even remotely capable, he'd be playing. The habs are fighting for the division and would rather play guys with zero nhl experience. No one is claiming this bum.

I never said they would get late 1sts or early 2nds for him. If he was a UFA in July they could easily trade him and get at least as much as Murray and Leopold, probably more. Same thing for Jokinen in Carolina, hias 13-14 cap hit kills his value because nobody wants to add money...weird taht Dallas traded Ryder AND a 3rd for Cole.

I think it was the worst PP performance winning a cup since the Original 6 era, IIRC.

So, yeah. Kaberle isn't the PP QB monster he was in the Toronto days.

That's me - I thought he would redeem himself this season and he looked to come back in great shape. Therrien/Bergevin never really gave him much of a chance probably because of his contract and soft play. Curious if the Penguins will grab him now that Martin and Letang are out. He would give them pp depth and at worst could be bought out in the off-season.

Hopefully someone grabs Kabs and he doesn't make us look bad down the road for giving up on him too early

Trash seems a strong word for a human being that has more than a few years contributing to a team in the league. Not the man he used to be, but then all of us will go through that, right?

If he doesn't get claimed, do you think the Habs send him to Hamilton, or is this just to check if any team will take a chance on him? It would be nice to not have to waste a buyout on him.

When do we know if he's been claimed? Noon tomorrow?

too bad...

waiving him likely means attempts to trade him were futile.

hard to see anyone picking him up, guess that means he spends some time with hamilton (or we send him home) & then we buy him out in the off-season.

Yes, he certainly can.....just not at that price tag. That's basically why he couldn't be traded.

Not trying to start any rumors, but in recalling an interview with Leblanc on his rookie dinner as a Hab, he said that only Tomas Kaberle showed up and that he drank a good amount, "he likes his wine" said Louis.

Anyhow, I wonder if his love of the bottle at all contributed to his decline. Purely speculative of course.

It's a tough environment in the NHL, if your play drops off for a season, it can be very costly.

If the salary cap wasn't going down, I'd have been fine with Kaberle sticking around as a #6/#7.

He really hasn't been that bad.

I honestly don't see how a team doesn't claim him. Look at the Rangers - they have ****ing Steve Eminger in the top-4.

He could have claims in already, but the deadline is 12 PM.

A player waived during the week lasts 24 HR.
A player waived on the weekend lasts 48 HR.

Pretty sure the 48 hour weekend waiver period was adjusted in the new CBA. 24 hours regardless of weekend or weekday now.

I think...

If that was the case, the deadline would be tomorrow.

The NEW CBA, says it's 24 hours regardless of the day. I think in the old CBA, the only time a player could be waived was from Mon to Friday.

They claimed Hamrlik, but this is his last year.

Would be surprised if Kabs gets picked up. If he does, I hope he gets his 10 games!

Kaberle on Waivers

I believe the deadline is Sunday at 12:00 PM noon. I could see a deal with Calgary for Boumeester, with the habs paying some or all of Kab's buyout cost. That would give the habs cap room to sign Boumeeter, I would throw Weber and a draft pick into the deal.

Not sure, but he needs 16-games for 1,000 in his career (which he'll easily get since someone will sign him next year if he's bought out).
