Michael is a great NHL player in the midst of a solid season like we've come to expect from him. He loves playing in Canada and so we were happy to see Winnipeg's interest in him, and we wish him the best of luck there. Excited to bring a player of Burmistrov's calibre, who was just waiting for a bigger opportunity, and another pick in what we hope to be a big draft for our franchise.
Still shopping Bouwmeester, Giordano, Kipper, Tanguay, Stajan, Stempniak, Glencross, and more.
To PHX: Ty Rattie, Brian Elliott, Jamie Langenbrunner
To STL: Rusty Klesla, Raffi Torres
The Blues would like to welcome Rostislav and Raffi to the team. They both have great games in their own right. The Blues feel like adding them can really turn out to be special. Klesla is that veteran top4 dman and Torres is a tough, very competitive forward, both great additions for the Blues.
The Vancouver Canucks would like to announce that Roberto Luongo has agreed to waive his NTC in order to join the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. In return Vancouver receives center Tyler Bozak, prospect Tyler Biggs as well as conditional 2nd round pick in '14 based on Toronto's playoff performance.
"It's a sad day in Vancouver to see an elite player such as Roberto leave this organization, but we thank him for his many years of service and wish him all the best in Toronto. We are happy to be getting a couple of players in return that we feel fill holes in our line-up both now and in the future. We are also very confident in Cory Schneider's abilities to be an elite goaltender in this league and feel that now is his time to truly breakout."
With the Luongo trade the Canucks are now seeking an experienced back-up goaltender, preferably someone who is either an UFA at season's end or carries a cap hit of $1M or less.
We have two more big deals coming later today. I'm out of town still so sending in trades is difficult for me... I'll be back fully tomorrow though! I'll check my cap situation then too.
With the development of Jamie Oleksiak and acquisition of Joe Morrow, Dallas has to move out veteran left shot defenders. Since Goligoski's NTC starts this summer, we made the best decision possible and moved him now in order to avoid any complications. Petry provides a valuable right defender for our organization, and we feel comfortable playing him in any situation.
