I could veeeeeery well see Miller heading to Phoenix, with their goalie situation this offseason.

We aren't trading Stastny for a 34 year old defenseman who's going to be on his last legs when we're ready to contend.

Would love to see Derek Morris in a Leafs jersey at 3:01pm on Wednesday. Could eat up some serious minutes to help Phaneuf, and has a pretty well rounded game.

His contract is going to be up before we are ready to contend, I don't think you have seen much of campbell play to think hed be a bad return, Hes a true no. 1 dman who eats minutes and actually knows how to control a PP and that could teach our young OFD a lot about the game, instead of being mentored by no one. Not to mention him helping the d core to get this team in the playoffs and actually make big FA players want to sign here. I think that offers a hell of a lot more than long shot draft picks and prospects, but this is hfboards, so I guess i should say a late first and a mid teir prospect is far superior.

I agree with Ivan Campbell has never been great on the defensive side , and will not improve with this as he ages and loses foot speed. Stastny could be moved for much better building blocks for the Avs Imo.

So we trade away our biggest trade chip for a guy who won't be here when we're ready to contend? Terrific logic.

And FTR I saw enough of Cats games to see that Soupy is a damn good player but trading for him unless Tallon accepts a deal of lesser players than Stastny doesn't make any sense.

Agree to disagree, I think he has plenty left in the tank. Plus they have plenty of building blocks, between their current prospects and their upcoming lottery picks. They need talented veterans who can help bring it all together.

Centers carry a high premuim in trades many teams starved for them. Stastny even though not preforming his best will fetch a very nice return.

Let me ask you this, what do you think Stastny will bring in realistically not what you want to get for him?

I have no idea, but if he returns a 34 year old defeseman I'll be really pissed off.

Kulikov then and a small pick/prospect? I'd rather keep Soup age and all.

Didn't Tallon say your young kids are there to stay?

To make one thing clear, I love Soupy and the way he plays, I think he's severely underrated and further more I don't see Tallon trading him in a deal for Stastny to begin with, but trading Stastny for him when Stastny is the only realistic piece that could bring back a young(ish) defenseman with potential isn't a very good idea.

Soup isn't being moved, just don't see any way possible, and he has a NTC, would have to approve.

Didn't say all the young'ins.

He did name Kulikov, Gudbranson, Huberdeau, Shore, Bjugstad didn't he? Apart from that I really can't see who would be an interesting target for the Avalanche.

Yeah, he did, had to go back and look. I'd be fine with him moving Kuli for the right player, though. Just don't see Campbell being moved.

I agree with this.

If the Oilers were taking a shot at him, the starting point would definitely be Ales Hemsky on a return. His $5M this year and next basically makes it a $2M differential both ways.

That would knock off two from the list of available players also.

Rundblad for Bishop.

Cowen - Karlsson
Methot - Rundblad

do it.

Yeah, Florida won't do that. He's not going anywhere.
