Just finished watching.

I know sometimes calls can go against you and it can be tough for refs to see whats going on but...

How the hell doesn't he call that????

Idiot in stripes is right there watching it when it happens , he is right there watching it. You can see his freaking eyes and if he thinks it is an embellishment then he should call that. Clear cut high stick with injury 4 min.

What a clown.

Please stop blaming Quick I think he has been better for each game and I don't see any softies in this game. He nearly saved the Parise shot and that was a freaking good attempt by him. On Cullen's shot he was screened. Last SO against Cullen, Yeah maybe.

But he has not been that bad as some of you are making him, he has been doing some great saves when needed these last games and You (some) guys throw him under the bus.

Lets see who you want to be the goalie in the playoffs. I for sure know who.

No shootout in the playoffs. I think we win the game in playoff format OT.

You also wouldn't be a rested team playing against a team on the 2nd game of a back to back...

You cannot blame Quick for every loss.. What goal could he have done something at? Maybe the second one but he saved a breakaway and some other really good saves.

How about you look at how our defense is at certain goals etc..

Just for giggles though for those saying the quick has been choking. Did you see the stats they showed at the end of one? Kings are the best team in the league when scoring for or having a lead at any point in the game. Pretty impressive.
Yeah, I've been getting more and more sick of the negativity and over-reactions as well. Quick is working his way through the season and Sutter is giving him that chance. It's not like they're out of the playoffs, if that was the case he'd be forced to go with the hot hand.

Robert of Jewels from the Crown tracks them and says otherwise. So can you prove that?

What we need to do is put this in perspective. Do the Kings some times give up prime scoring chances, yes. But so does every team in the league. Even those that are the best defensively. There are breakdowns and good players on the opposition doing what they do. It's the nature of hockey.

The Kings have not magically turned bad in front of Quick and good in front of Bernier. There have been plenty of scoring chances Bernier's had to stop, breakaways, odd man rushes, and all.

I understand the need to let Quick play himself back into shape, and I'm sure he will. But we shouldn't think it's all been the defense not being perfect.

I don't think those were soft goals. JB should be playing more here and there. Monday would have been a good time for that, but he didn't play and we won even though Quick didn't play well that night. JB should play this week too with another back to back coming up, and depending on Quick's performance on Tuesday, perhaps Thursday's game as well. In any case, Jonathan Quick does not pick the team, he does not pick who starts. So blaming him for Bernier not playing doesn't sit well with me. Even a Stanley Cup winning coach is capable of being wrong at times and Sutter may be judged as such in this case.

5 out of 6 points on any road trip against 3 playoff teams is good. We aren't going to get perfection. Quick's rebound control tonight was good and he saw the puck well. The only thing I saw during regulation that concerned me was a bit of jitters when the puck came flying off the boards, but hey, none of those went in.

I do believe that having guys like Ellerby in the lineup is ultimately a detriment to the team. He doesn't use his size very well and gives the puck away a lot. Not in the traditional turnover sense, but with aimless passes out of his defensive zone gifting the puck right to the opponents without dragging them back into their own zone. I'm not a big fan of that. Some of the other guys haven't been too great either but I think the games this week were much better in terms of that.

What pisses me off is people saying hey trade the guy. If Kopitar went into this season on his bum ankle and wasn't able to produce I'm starting to believe those people would say similar things, and that worries me a little to be quite honest. I would think we are capable of being more rational. Quick should be judged like any other player playing through an injury. That doesn't mean free pass, that means not going overboard. To me anyway.

The biggest piece of insanity, to me, is expecting the .950 save percentage Quick threw down in the playoffs all the time. Some seem to forget that in hockey, from time to time, you will get scored on and nobody is necessarily at fault. But as soon as that puck goes in, arms start waving and fingers start pointing. Last year we couldn't buy a goal and everyone was feeling so very sorry for Quick back there, dying on the cross for us. Now we want to throw him right back up there instead of expecting the team to rally around him.

No one is blaming everything on one player...and while the Kings have a playoff spot there really should be a better word than "blame" as it is what it is and as long as we are in the playoffs no one should be complaining.

That said-I dont think speculating on Quick's effectiveness should be considered some type of blasphemy and debating his stats can reveal some inherent truisms. Some that I find telling are....

From the start of the season to the end of February- Quicks save percentage was .900 or better 11 times in 14 games. Since February has has only posted a .900 or better 11 times in 21 games. To put that in perspective- over last season over the entire span of 69 games he only failed to post .900 or better 18 times.

So 69 games last season, only 18 games in which he failed to beat .900 sv%
From February of this season in 21 games, 10 games in which he failed to beat .900 sv%

I have a feeling we're not going to see Quick back playing like we know he's capable until next season. Having a normal summer to do his normal training routine will probably make a huge difference.

I don't think anyone was expecting Quick to maintain a .950 save percentage. The reality is that he has a .895 save percentage which is extremely poor and the worst among goaltenders with more than 17 starts. We still play a very defensive system, ice some of the best defensive forwards in the NHL, and even with our defensive injuries, ice a defense better than many others in the NHL. Quick needs to be better, plain and simple.

I do think it's odd that the whole crucify Quick movement is picking-up after this game where outside of looking foolish in the shootout I though he played fine. Nolan and Fraser are at the top of my **** list after last nights game. Nolan took an absolutely idiotic penalty that he needs to be punished for and Fraser needs to realize who he is and what his responsibilities are and stop the dumb drop passes. I'd sit both of them for Penner and Richardson today

Unless they get bounced early or fail to make the playoffs, he still won't have a normal summer.

A lot more normal than having back surgery.

Back to back's might be overrated but this is debatable as well. Of course most teams will lose points when you play 4 games, will also happen if you play them in a 10 day span.

The problem I have with Quick now is that he doesnt steal anything. If he faces 10 shots, he will allow 1 goal. When he faces 20 shots, he allows 2 goals or more. With 30 shots 3 goals or more. Etc etc.

If he's injured than he shouldnt play, I dont believe in that. Its wishful thinking.

Kings have 5 points in games vs Chicago, St.Louis, Minnesota...all on the road. More than okay. Minnesota I dont fear at all. Only teams I dont want to play against are Vancouver and Chicago.

Just saw the game. Meh, what are you going to do? I like seeing a game like this rather than the last game against Dallas where you're thinking, does this team really suck?

How Minnesota played, that's the gameplan that I worry teams will employ to beat the Kings. Stay in the game, get some strong goaltending and team defense, bend and don't break. Hang around long enough and then capitalize on the bounces/chances/calls/whatever. I still like the Kings' chances against a team like Minnesota in the playoffs because I think that strategy will only buy 1 or 2 games in a best-of-seven.

Blown calls? Whatever. I think of the referees as nothing more than a stanchion on the boards. They're a bad bounce in skates. Sometimes they go for you, sometimes they go against you. Usually it's best to not rely on them as part of your gameplan (i.e., don't go taking boneheaded penalties).

Quick was fine. Not spectacular, but he got schooled in the shootout by three good shooters. I ain't even mad, but I do think that starting Bernier more often is a good idea, because you don't know how much fatigue from playing back-to-backs will affect Quick come playoff time, especially coming off back surgery.

Onto the next game. If they don't at least dominate the Stars this game, I'm going to worry that the Stars just have their number.

Uh, is that really a game plan ? I assume every team in the NHL wants to play like that.

No, every team wants to impose their will. Minnesota realized early in the game that they weren't going to be able to do that, so instead they just tried to limit the damage. They were still getting dominated in possession and zone time, but they didn't seem to panic (unlike the Blues). Then when the opportunities presented themselves, they capitalized, and converted just enough to take them to a shootout, where they delivered the knockout blow. The Kings got rope-a-doped, and I don't think it was an accident.
