I think so too. He just needs to start piling up some points.

Likely because kulikovs mistakes as a defenseman are glaring and game changing like last night. Ballard talented as he was, was a whipping boy here because his mistakes were in the limelight.

IMHO (sorry urslata) kulikov gets a long leash and for me I wouldn't touch him for 2 more yrs.

But should one or two glaring mistakes negate the rest of the game? Should they negate the many good defensive plays? Kuli is presently the best D in our own zone. What's better, one or two glaring mistakes or 5-10 mediocre mistakes? Last night, Kuli also played good D all night long, helped set up Matthias' 1st goal, and scored the GWG. I've read less about all that in this thread than his one glaring mistake.

You never hear about the planes that take off and land safely. Only the ones that crash...

I agree, he's completely under-appreciated for how good he is in his own zone and how at his age, it's not very common.

It depends how fundamental those errors are.

As i said for me i wont even pass judgement on a young defenseman for another 100 games.

You just described below with others exactly how he's a pain in the ass. Glaring mistakes that can, and have, turned the game, but steady most of the time. Can't hit the net (of course talking about his slapper), should have more points.

Whatever is, he's staying around and I hope he can gain control of those things.

How was it hard to figure out?? I didn't say he sucked. Didn't say he's trending downward...he's a pain in the ass to watch. High expectations.

How come there's no calls for any of our other d-men to be traded then?

Kuli really frustrates me especially last night, Im not just talking about the turnover that led to the goal. That happens to the best dman, but he was continuously making mistakes I feel like I am watching a different player from you guys.

Campbell, no.

Gudbranson I've talked about just as much as Kulikov. Granted, others probably don't, but I mentioned Gudbranson in this thread, as well.

THIS was the worst part of the night! I hope it was only a one time thing, but I didn't see any emergency cars down north Flamingo. Must have burned about a quarter tank of gas.

Anyway, I'm glad Kuli redeemed himself and it just points to how long it takes for a young defenseman to develop. It also points me in the direction of drafting a more NHL-ready forward in the upcoming draft.
