Damn you Theodore!!!!

Some of you may know that my friend's fiance is good friends with Mike Ribeiro. Well I was speaking to my friend today who was at Boullion's golf tournament and her and her fiance had a long chat about the team with Ribeiro.

Interesting notes:

-He says Gainey is pretty much done
-He says he'd rather play with Dumont than Samsonov but what can you do?
And the best part...
-He said that Colorado had been trying to get Theodore all year. They had initially offered Aebi and HEJDUK for Theodore and Gainey said no. Later in the season they offered Aebi and Tanguay and Gainey said no. Then Theodore went into his slump and Colorado offered Aebisher only.

Just imagine...Had we known how bad he'd be would could have had Hejduk or Tanguay!

If you're wondering, yes my friend is trustworthy. I'm not reporting rumours or anything so I think this thread is ok.

I would be shocked if Hejduk or Tanguay were offered with Aebi for Theodore at all last season.
Theo struggled pretty much from the get go!

How would Ribeiro know what was offered? Sorry but I never buy the "friend of a friend friend" sources.

She's not the type to lie about it. She's a Habs fanatic and she's credible. I know her fiance is best buds with Ribs because I've met him through him at parties.

Who's to say this info came from Gainey? Maybe it came from Theodore?

Sorry, I don't believe it. We all know you're a Ribeiro hater but this is getting ridiculous.

What I find pretty interesting about it is that the "St.Patrick" character that posts a Habs Rumour blog mentioned that the Habs were close to aquiring Tanguay in a Theodore trade before Theodore's bad play made Colorado back off...And I am 160% positive that my friend is telling the truth so this kinda makes that blogger a bit more credible.

What does this have to do with anything? It's not like he said anything bad.

All this is missing is an E2-E3-E4 rating

Maybe Ribeiro is trying to boost his worth, or is being overconfident in thinking that Gainey chose him over Tanguay, because ultimately if Tanguay came here, Ribeiro would be the odd man out.

Even if Ribeiro had a career year prior to the start of this last season, anyone with a grain of hockey sense could tell you Tanguay > Ribeiro, on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

The only time Theo was worth anything was during his Vezina/Hart year. And we all know that was only because of a good half-seasons performance. Since then he has proven to be nothing but inconsistent.

I'm not claling your friend a liar though... maybe some of the other parties involved

Actually I'd take Ribeiro at centre over Tanguay. As a winger, Tanguay is awesome but at centre he sucks horribly. In my opinion.

I think this isn't Ribeiro making himself look good, but rather Theodore's value being overestimated.

so in which of the 6 seasons Tanguay has played was he a horrible center? Aside from his rookie year, and his 3rd year, he's managed to top Ribeiro's career high of 65pts every time. I'm pretty sure he played center last year, and with 29G and 78PTS I would say he's pretty good, especially considering he was (I think) playing 2nd line behind Sakic. He's obviously good enough to play along Iginla too.

His best years have always had him playing wing. He's better as a winger that's just my opinion.

There have been stories about players finding out they got traded by hearing about it on the 6 o'clock news. I doubt Ribeiro knows about or is that connected with Gainey's wheelings and dealings.

Plus its not good for any players morale to know whats going on behind the scenes.

He's a consistent 25G scorer and 70PT getter at the least... I'd say at no matter what position, thats better than anything Ribeiro will ever do. Not to hate on Ribeiro, but Tanguay is just better, and without the help of Forsberg, a hot Hejduk, good goaltending, good defense, Tanguay still managed to prove us wrong by almost getting 80pts. Can any Avs followers confirm if Alex was playing center this last season or not? I'm pretty sure he was.
