isn't Danis a bit too old for making that list?

Wow, scary to see our depht

So much talent in the bottom of the list, it's insane. We will have to make room for them sooner rather then later...

Kostitsyn, Lapierre, Chipchura, Latendresse and Grabovski will all be looking for a shot in the next year so it's not an easy situation for Gainey and Carbo...

And IMO, D'Agostini and Maxwell should be higher and Mikus and Linberg lower...

But isn't it a nice problem to have?

First thought: I hate the new list and some ratings (Maxwell, Chipchura) make me sick.

Other than that, good job!

EDIT: oh yeah, Latendresse N.1? Give me a break.

It's nice to see the depth we have down there. There's a lot of great potential.

I'd put A.Kost before Latendresse and I'd consider Garth Murray to have graduated... but that's just my opinion

I like the analysis but the only thing is that the other teams list also gave the projection for the players (like 1 line center etc... but not this one

8.5B means Kost is sure to become at least a good 2nd liner. That's stupid. The guy is far from being sure to become a nhler. 8.5C would be correct. As for Latendresse #1, it looks weird, but who else could be #1?

A few things to point out...

* 3 of our top 10 and 4 of our top 14 are goaltenders!
* Newly drafted defenseman David Fischer already 7th on a deep list!
* Guillaume Latendresse jumped from 7th to #1 on the list!
* Carey Price may prove Gainey right (again) for selecting him 5th overall!

Andrei Kostitsyn should be 1st but...

Sergei higher than Emelin and O'Bryne? Err why? He's becoming a little overrated on the Hab boards.

Quite happy with my boy Latendresse being first. But, is it really deserved? I REALLY like Guillaume and I think that he can make the team as soon as this year, but I consider Price and Kostsistyn to be better prospects in the long run. AK as more offensive upside and Price as the potential to become a franchise goaltender.

It's not stupid, it's called opinion, you have yours and the writer has his. Is that really so hard to understand? Why bash someone for their opinion because it is different then yours. Are you so sure of a prospects future that you can bash someone that took the time to write and research an article.

I personally wouldn't rank him that high but I also understand that everyone can form their own opinion and I don't go around calling those opinions stupid if I don't agree.

As for #1, Lats, Price, Kostitsyn, Grabovsky, Chipchura, imo any of them can be considered our top prospect since different people will look at different reasons to name someone #1.

Latendresse has the potential the dominate a game not only with his skills but physically as well... As skilled as Kostitsyn is, he will never bring that physical presence Latendresse will, what is to take in consideration... Personally I would rank Kostitsyn first but I certainly can live with Latendresse as our best prospect cause he is a huge one! We have at least 3 prospects that should have a major impact for us in the not so far future.. Kostitsyn, Price, Latendresse. (Could have added Chipchura with his leadership and all around game)

I tend to agree.. Ive OByrn and Emelin ranked higher but I must admit I didnt see Kostitsyn jr. play much.

Kostitsyn is properly rated IMO, I would rate Price 8.5B as well, Latendresse 8B, Grabovski 7.5B, Chipchura 6.5A, Lapierre 6A, OByrn 7B, Emelin 7B.. Then comes the C rating..

Prediction: Fischer vaults to the top 3 (I would say #1, were it not for the promise of Price and Latendresse) of the list within a year. He seems like a tremendous steal as a 20th selection. Comparable to Ottawa getting Mezsaros roughly that late, but in a larger physical package (his weight shouldn't be a problem: Lidstrom, Niedermayer, Chelios and a few other Norris types are lanky too...).

Edit: I get a kick out of Gainey being such a contrarian: getting Price last year at #5, against consensus opinion, and actually trading down in the first round this year and still getting his player, whom many stayed away from because of so-called attitude issues that were probably unfounded.

No, he's still a prospect as he's played less than 10 NHL games, and is definitely in the Canadiens plans. No way is he too old, IMO.

That seems like a lot of goalies. I wonder if Gainey can barter Halak or Heino-Lindberg to get an undervalued center prospect.

I never said he wasn't in Habs plans, but Danis is 25 yo, HF should have considered him graduated to the NHL as per their Prospect Criteria

Their prospect criteria doesn't involve how many games they've played?

if a goaltender has played in 45 NHL games before the completion of the season of his 24th birthday, that player will be considered graduated to the NHL. Conversely, if a player completes the season of his 24th birthday without passing those milestones, then that player will no longer be considered a prospect by Hockey’s Future, regardless of the player’s status with his NHL club

Aren't Aubin and D'Agostini signed to pro contracts? I could swear I saw that posted here early this summer.

Danis' eligibility

One thing you missed about Danis:

2. An NCAA player who signs his first contract at or above the age of 22 has three years to meet the above criteria (65/45), while those NCAA players that turn pro under the age of 22 will be subjected to the criteria above.

He was signed in 2004 out of Brown University, so he's still eligible for one more year.

Jay

To those complaining about the list, it is one person's opinion, does not make it right or wrong.

Difficult for me to comment, I have not seen all the habs prospects play. I only comment on players I see.

My question to the author of this list: Did you see everyone play?
