He's fumbling the pucks. Needs to pass it? Fumbles it away. Needs to hold it for a shot? Fumbles it away. Needs to shoot it? This year, has shanked it or fumbled it away. Actually watch him this year - he's not the same player any more. Every so often he has a game where he looks like himself, but for the vast majority he's simply an on ice liability now defensively and a non-factor offensively.

Yeah, the offense really has dried up of late. Hoping they figure that out.

Wtf you talking about? That goal was all on hiller.. Those are the kind of goals that kills the confidence of a team.. Hiller is getting paid alot of money to stop routine shots like that.. Especially from the side.. He needs to cover the post with his whole body, Not his fuc*** glove.. thats the reason why it went in. This team has lost its mojo.. Simple as that.. Cant bury any chances..Cant defend.. Goalies give up atleast one soft goal a game.. As a number 1 goalie..you need to make that stop.. Doesn't mattter..

A better period.

My thoughts:

* 1st line needs to play more simple. They struggle against this hard working Blue Jackets team. Make less fancy passes and open up more for a shot and shoot that puck.
* 2nd line pretty invisible exept some shaky defensive plays. Cogs is carrying that line as good as he can, but that is not enough.
* 3d line Well... Cogs > Dvorak
* 4th line Very good period. IDK why some posters here were whining about Steckel. He`s not the worst option for 4th line C. He is no Getzlaf in offensive zone, but can make something. He wins more FO`s than loose and throws a hit here and there. Usefull along the boards.
Others on that line - Staubitz is nice. As much as i can read in this forum, he`s good again. But few hours ago he was just a crap. Ok, but Etem is the man on that line. Leading the game with 5 hits (Getz and Staubitz have 3), goes with speed etc

While I agree on those lines, I'd say for most of the year he's done a great job adjusting during the game, based on the number of come from behind wins the Ducks have.

9 years? Ducks WERE soft from Page to Babcock, all the way to Carlyle/Burke era. Dirk was 100% right. And since Burke left, we've slowly become softer and softer.

And this year this team IS soft, we lack the physical extracurricular activity.

I like what ive seen from Dvorak. Both games he's had some good takeaways and good passes to set up scoring chances.

He's been invisible, but he hasn't been overly terrible, fumbling pucks left and right, like Ryan, etc.

But, he`s a nice prospect, don`t touch him. Better look at those AHL level players all around the lineup

Exactly! Etem should be shown some PP time. He has outperformed everyone on the forechecking aspect tonight. He has the biggest hits tonight. He deserves PP time he's earned it.

Exactly. We had our best success under Burke/Carlyle when we had a bottom 6 filled with big, tough guys who loved to hit. Now we go back to being the smallest, least physical bottom 6 ever. It's pretty boring to watch.

But that's enough complaining from me.

Go Ducks!

Those come from behind wins were due to the team playing well, and incidentally giving up the first goal. They were playing well, it was just a coincidence that the other team scored first. But when the team plays like **** (tonight, vs SJ, etc.), they have a real hard problem making adjustments. Caps fans use to complain about that all the time, it was a big reason they lost some of those playoff series.

Like every year since I can't remember when I've watched every game this year. I agree Selanne has looked worse than the previous years, but the only thing I'm arguing is him over Ryan on the 1st PP. Ryan has shown nothing in the past or the present on the PP so the past alone should give Selanne a spot over him. Ryan fumbles the pucks all the time and doesn't seem to know where to be.

my guess is that he's still feeling effects of the Torres shoulder to chin hit, and then, right when he returns, the tin man elbow to the melon. He looks off, and probably doesn't want to say anything for fear of losing his spot.

Yes, because those are the attributes you need on the PP...

Speaking of Pierre Page, I'm reading the Theo Fleury book right now, and he talks about when Page was coaching the Flames. Apparently, when the team was playing poorly going into intermission, instead of telling his guys how to turn it around, he would tell them to take deep breaths and calm down.

If you haven't read it yet, I strongly recommend it. (He and some Flames even took a plane to Vegas the night before a game against LA)
