How insulting of them to suggest you trade your top prospect for a young top-pairing defenseman.

The Kings wouldn't trade Voynov for the entire Flames roster.

Thats probably a good idea as it would be hard to fit under the cap.

Well, let's see. Let me brief you a bit on the Voynov/DL history because a lot of fan bases don't know.

Voynov was passed over in the the higher levels of the draft because teams were scared of the the KHL snapping him up or him wanting to make more money staying close to home early in his career. Same with Loki who is now having success in Jersey.

DL talked with Voynov multiple times before the draft, same with Loki. They both said their goal was to be in the NHL for their career.

DL has admitted that Voynov spent a year or possibly two longer in the AHL because the Kings had huge depth on defense. Doughty, Johnson, Greene, Mitchell, Scuderi, etc.

Voynov isn't a 5th/6th d'man.

Through it all, Voynov didn't complain, didn't threaten to go to the KHL (even though they were offering more money), he just played for Manchester and became an all-star.

The Kings ability to trade Johnson and get Carter was because of Voynov. The Kings have honored their belief in Voynov by giving him the #2 spot behind Doughty has their "point getting" d'man.

Voynov has not only done that, he has remained solid as being a say at home d'man.

Every game Voynov is getting better. Every game he it looks like the game is getting easier for him. Does he still get burnt from time to time? Yes. Does he still make mistakes? Yes. Does he learn and make up for them? YES!

Sutter has had nothing but praise for Voynov since Sutter took over. DL has said his #1 goal is getting Voynov locked up before the start of next season.

I say all this so you will know, and all non-Kings watching people will know, why it will take a MASSIVE overpayment to get Voynov traded.

Plus, with no Mitchell and Greene, Voynov and Doughty have brought the minutes and excellent play. (yeah, Doughty isn't scoring as much but his defensive play is amazing).

Unless Voynov demands to be the highest paid d'man in the league (which the Kings can't afford) or he asks for a trade, he's not going anywhere.

He promised to play in the NHL and spent time in the AHL to prove it. The Kings have rewarded him by giving him a ton of minutes and allowing him to be a star. I don't see Voynov going anywhere any time soon.

Even if the Kings wanted to get rid of Voynov, your are asking them to part ways with a 20 minute a night, scoring d'man. They can't afford that right now.

Yeah, you don't get a player like Voynov at this point. You either trade for him when he's still toiling in the AHL or in a few years if he and the Kings have trouble agreeing during RFA negotiation.

There is absolutely nothing on Calgary's roster that is worth trading Voynov for.

Yeah, you're not going to like kings fans response when it comes to VV. It will have to be a MASSIVE overpayment for us to even consider.

So, that would be a "no".

Imagine Calgary calling up saying they would trade their whole roster AND keep all of the salary and DL says no...

You want a whole team for a single Dman?

"He's our OEL" what is Doughty then? Your Bobby Orr?
