This from Mike Peca. A guy who played against Bouwmeester a total of 8 times in his career, 5 of which were when Bouwmeester was under 20 years old.

Most 18-20 year olds are a little soft and fumble pucks.

Pecas the last persont that should be calling any one soft I can remember several times when Darren Helm took him out when he was playing for Columbus during the Playoffs.

If I am Calgary I offer to pay 2M of his salary, his value on the trade market instantly increases

Well it's for good reasons.

I've listed them multiple, multiple times but to be quick.

1) He's our only high end center prospect, with Datsyuk possibly leaving in 1 year we can't trade him.
2) He's our #1 "normal" aged prospect. Smith & Nyquist would be NHL regulars on any other team.
3)He's not being traded for a player that doesn't fill a huge need and comes with questionable contract details, cap hit, length, etc.

Oh and we're also retooling/rebuilding so trading our top prospect doesn't make sense. I would move him in a package for a #1 center/#1/2 dman, but that's about it. You can tell me I overrate him but I'm one of the few that would even move him.

2nd round and a Bottom-6 roster player.
Just to get him off the Payroll would be a win for the Flames.

Let's see he is the best defenseman on the trade market and it could be a deadline deal? Yeah he is going to get a lot in return Jesus people Matt carle got 5.5m.

Because cap space will help this team?

Not much interest for Bouwmeester. How much for Giordano? Leafs are finally at the stage where a vet D could really help.

I'd use that late first rounder to acquire Ian McCoshen. He's everything that JBouw was supposed to be...

Not sure if the flames organization wants to trade giordano,
Gio for Tyler biggs and a 1st?
or
Gio and Kipper for Biggs + Finn + 1st + maybe conditional pick next year

Dont get me wrong Peca was a good hockey player but to call another player soft especially when Bouwmeester was pretty new then to the game of course he's going to be soft.

He asked what it was from so I posted the video. I don't really disagree with the he can be very careless with the puck part. Not a big JayBo guy, but the reason the video went up was the question of what Peca said.

Refreshing to see a good proposal.

I would do the last one. It benefits both teams well. Good pieces for a rebuild, a good pieces for your playoff push .

We don't need Kipper. Would do the first deal, but I doubt Nonis does.

Just because a deal is made during the deadline doesn't mean it will result in an inflated deadline return. Without a team desperate for immediate upgrades, GMs can demand inflated prices all they want - they just won't get taken up on the offer.

At the moment, the possibility of retaining a player's salary is rather theoritical but Boowmeester would be good candidate.
The Leafs used this option earlier in the year to get rid of Matthew Lombardi.

Peca was made of glass, it's no wonder he liked playing against non-physical players.

I hear all the time about Detroits prospects, but until they make impact in NHL I think many have overrated them based on Detroits organizational success. Now I'm not saying these prospects will not work out, but for example Jankrok is a very small guy playing center. Small players produce in the AHL and other leagues, but its hard to know how they will perform in NHL. Watching Detroit these next 4-5 years will be very interesting.
