Notes on Poile's convo:

• Deadline is busy, but not as busy for the Preds as fans might hope (not surprising given our bubble situation)
• A lot of teams standing pat given how close the bubble standings are; status quo is likely the trend this year
• DAL / SJ trades were not an indication of being buyers / sellers; more proactive contract management
• Haha sounded like he regretted trading a 1st for Goose (You sit at the draft table and think, 'man I wish we had that 1st.')
• He would never not trade a player for personal reasons if the return was beneficial for the organization (likely related to Kipper situation)
• "DET is absolutely our #1 rival"
• Likes the playoff format in realignment; intra-division rivalries developed in the playoffs are great for fans and business
• He went to VAN training camp after expansion to try out for the team (didn't know this lol)
• We're on life support right now; travel has been tough, but need to be more consistent
• Need to put Suter in the rearview mirror (sounds like he hasn't though haha)
• Fenton deserves a shot as GM; been great as right-hand man. Thinks his opportunity will come soon

So not a whole lot of new info or Preds-specific details, but still an informative / interesting one. It sounds like half of Poile's hair falls out for every trade he makes; you can maybe criticize his moves in hindsight, but he definitely seems to put a lot of sweat and tears into the team.

So many ways to project this.

a .500 record is a lock for top 9. (In my opinion where the talent breaks between the A+'s and A's compared to the B's)

8 home games. 5 away. .688 win percentage at home, .361 away

That's 4 pts away, 11 home. 15 pts 50 total points

BUT, the Preds are only 1 pt from the playoffs. Yes there is a ******** of teams ahead of them.

Even when the Preds are low, they still are in it. Seriously, the black knight in the Monty Python movie is jealous.

The projections say 47 pts 8th pick in the draft. But the Preds could fall on their face or rally. Or the other teams ahead of the Preds throw themselves in a woodchipper.

As for Chicago, yeah their record is good but they have been 5-5 in the past 10. Oh and Kane is hurt.

Magic 8 ball says "I have no idea!"

My gut says out in the top 10 for the lottery. The final game vs. Columbus could be win and in for both teams.

Really? Because he didn't look hurt in their 7-1 win over Detroit on Sunday. I'm all for him not playing against us, but I didn't see him hurt anytime. Just ending an 8 game point streak and looking to start a new one against us.

Rangers fan coming in Peace...

As a Norwegian I'd love to see more of Our guys in the best League in the world..

I came across this just now and I want to know if it's true or not..

I know he turned them Down last year cause of his New born child, but this is a guy most nhl teams loves to have..

http://www.expressen.se/sport/hockey...lytt-till-nhl/

Basicly the article states that he and Nashville has agreed on a contract for Next year but that he'll answer after his current season is finished in sweden..

If this is an april fools joke, I'll be pissed....

Is this "known" News ? You guys know of him ? He's got nhl experience from CBJ and Flyers...

Been rumored a couple of times, but hasn't yet happened. If he joins the team this season he would have to clear waivers to play since he is not on the Predators reserve list. Would assume any contract would be for next season.

Thanks for the heads up!

OKT? Oy gevalt. Dunno how he plays nowadays (I suspect it wouldn't be much different), but when he was here in Columbus he was ultimately a liability because he would constantly end up out of position chasing the big hit and isn't fast enough to get back as needed. He is not the guy to look for if you're having blueline issues.

I suppose he could be taught up to bottom-pairing level, but I wouldn't call him NHL-ready unless he's learned a lot more discipline. Which strikes me as potentially unlikely, since those big hits of his were about 90% of why he was loved here.

He's a ton of fun if you enjoy someone who routinely flattens folks and will drop the gloves. But seeing goals against shortly after such a hit tended to diminish the enjoyment a tad.

Please. Klesla "looked bad" up here the same way Legwand does down there, and for the same reasons. We only traded him because we were tired of dealing with the injuries.

Point taken.

Still, Poile and Trotz seem to have a knack for identifying and developing defensemen.

That last is why he might not be a total waste of time. That said, I wouldn't recommend him under the current circumstances.

currently tied for 8th and still have a shot at making the playoffs even after the Erat trade. Hope we get to see Forsberg this year.

I hope Forsberg comes for some practices, but don't want to rush him into the lineup. Wouldn't be surprised if he made the team out of camp next season though...

Im pretty sure we wouldnt bring him over this year and burn a year of his ELC.

camp next year, if he wows us, he might stay, otherwise back to Sweden as he would be too young for the AHL wouldnt he?

this summer will be telling. Forsberg is a top prospect but not someone who is likely to put up 60 points next year.

If Poile makes another deal this summer and fills the hole left by Erat with an NHL ready forward, then we are "retooling"

If we get nobody and stockpile prospects with our draft, we are witnessing the beginning of the rebuild

CHL, not AHL, but you're right.

Andreas Thuresson signed with the Predators at 19 and played in the AHL straight away, although that might have been a mistake in hindsight. Forsberg is a bit of a different animal, though, since he's a first round pick with all the expectations attached to that.
