Iginla's paperwork is all straightened out. Funny how there's no delay for some

Well, if the discrepancy in wait times is true, it probably has more to do with the U. S. having a more trusting relationship with Canadian workers than those from the EU (where immigration fraud is a lot more common). I don't think Iginla's star status has anything to do with it. Either way, there's really no reason for it to take more than a day in cases like this where the circumstances are clear.

So you've got to figure that the Bruins are going to give this guy an opportunity or they wouldn't claim him.

I'm pretty excited to have him.

So does anyone else have a scouting report on him?

It probably didn't hurt having the Prime Minister of Canada as a Flames fan.

Stephen Harper ‏@pmharper 28 Mar
Jarome Iginla is a class act, a proud Canadian, and an all-time Flames great. Thanks for everything, Jarome. http://******/jupsp

A politician saying "thanks for everything, Jarome" just sounds odd to me. Thank you for playing a game, Jarome. You have made this world a better place.

Harper is a Calgary MP, goes to lots of games, is a huge hockey fan, and is writing a book about hockey.

It is not so strange that he would comment on Iginla (who set up the Golden Goal, as it is known in Canada) leaving Calgary.

If this isn't playing on the jumbotron during his first home game it will be a travesty

If I have learned anything over the last 10-15 years, it is that everybody bends over backwards (sometimes illegally) so Mario Lemieux gets whatever he desires.

I've been pleased reading this thread - sounds like a good 'glue' guy, sounds and looks like he's pretty fun. Ottawa fans seem to dig him. With any luck, he's playing tomorrow night and will give that 3rd line a different look (I'm assuming a Pandolfo scratch) with hopefully a bit more energy.

Would they let him play without a single practice?
Is it possible for him to practice with the team without a visa?
Taking the shootout into consideration the team needs to meet Daugy a day or two before the game to sort things out, i think. especially with Krejci! xD

Iginla is a Canadian citizen, Daugavins is not. He is Latvian. Big difference in the process. Remember, the US immigration process is just that. It also doesn't help that there is still some hesitation due to the old Eastern Block.

He'll be here when he gets here. This isn't even close to being as cut and dry as Iginla's.

Why not. They let Pandolfo play and he hasn't done a ****ing thing.

I want him in the line up next time.

The Bruins claimed former Senators forward Kaspars Daugavins on waivers Wednesday, but the 24-year-old has been unable to join the team because he has not been able to get his work visa. The wait will last until Tuesday at the earliest, his agent told WEEI.com Saturday.

The US Embassy is closed on Good Friday and the Monday following Easter, so the Bruins are working to get everything squared away for Tuesday, according to agent Jay Grossman. The Bruins will play Daugavins’ former club Tuesday night when they host the Senators at TD Garden.

You don't even know the half of it. It's a soulcrushing environment on the days you do work, luckily you get a few extra days off.

Excited to see Daugavins. Honestly I liked what I saw of him in Ottawa and when he went to waivers, I hoped we would claim him. Worked out.

The work visa process is the same for Latvians as it is for Canadians. The Club submits an Application for Non Immigrant Visa (H) along with supporting documents (contract, passport, birth certificate) to the Consulate. Office hours vary from Consulate to Consulate depending on location.

I am confident the visa will be issued in time for Daugie to play on the Bs next home game, if not on Tuesday. He doesn't need a visa to play tomorrow since the game is in Canada.

I don't get why he can come here and play a game for the oppostion, but if he becomes property of the Bruins, he can't leave?

The US Government won't allow Jay Pandolfo to be scratched.
