Well, methinks Clowe is on the 3rd line for a reason.

Stupid? Probably not. Desperate to put the team in the playoffs? Maybe. I just... I don't know. I'll wait to see what happens, but we shouldn't be buying 30 year old players.

Clowe is a tougher and bigger version of Hartnell. He's having a down year but I don't see the need for another forward.

i think you guys are worrying about nothing. i dont see homer shipping them a first round pick, or even McGinn for clowe. I think we ship a 2nd or 3rd for him.

I really hate Boston and Washington for losing these games. This weekend is going to go down as the worst in Flyer history. Just enough to give them hope of a playoff spot, but no hope of anything else. Trade away more future for crap like Clowe at the deadline.

It would've been much better if they'd just lost. Now they are going to kill themselves to make the playoffs, finish 10th but and draft 11th. Great. The Leafs model all over again.

Of course, if Homer trades the pick, they'll tank completely and give SJ a top 5 pick.

Anyone work in the telephone system in Philly? Anyone who can cut off Homer's phone?

I wouldn't mind Clowe, but as most are saying, not at an overpayment. They are two points out, but they have too many teams ahead of them to legitimately have a real shot, including at least two teams with games in hand. Yes it is mathematically possible, but it is such a stretch that it would be a bad idea to deal something of value for him (or anyone at this point, really).

Clowe is the only regular forward without a goal on the team. Not saying he sucks, but I am looking at it from the point of view that if Homer does this trade he thinks we have a chance this season with half our team healthy.

Maybe there's a plan in place to trade/buyout Briere, or trade someone else and replace them with Clowe?

SCOUTING REPORT
Assets: Plays a solid up-and-down game, and is a throwback winger who loves to check and do the dirty work. Strong on the puck, he's versatile enough to line up on either wing. Is a good scorer in close and an excellent scrapper, too.

Just adding this for everybody to see...

"Sharks GM Doug Wilson "would like a first-round pick and another young asset" for Clowe"

From Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area:

A source has informed CSNCalifornia.com that the Sharks have approached Clowe’s agent about the possibility of waiving his no-trade clause, and a deal could happen as soon as Sunday.

Interesting but I can't see carrying Clowe, Simmonds and Hartnell all on the same team. Makes me start to wonder if there's a bigger deal in the works.
