Where would he play in the lineup though when Bourque comes back? Does he play on the 4th line? Would we waste a 1st round pick and a prospect to play Clowe on the 4th line? Do we remove Galchenyuk from the 3rd and place him on the 4th? Do we really want that? Unless a top 9 forward is going out, I don't see where the habs have room to bring one in.
Yes, we play him on the 4th line. We're gonna have great depth on the wing. Is what supposed to be a problem?
Yes he brings ability to fight and hit, take ill-advised penalties, he's one of the best floaters out there and his defensive game is simply abysmal.
I have a feeling those clamoring for Clowe have never watched him play. At least not this year. If they would, they wouldn't want him on our team, especially at the price that San Jose is rumoured to be asking.
BTW, can someone explain to me why a team that is currently holding a playoffs spot would trade Clowe if he's so coveted ? What's the rational behind SJ trading him ?
It's pretty clear that if you're trading for Clowe, you're hoping that a change of scenery will do him some good. It's not that the Sharks are running him out of town but if they get an offer that would be stupid to ignore, especially if they think he'll just be leaving at the end of the year anyway, it's a trade you have to make.
Clowe hasn't been a huge part of the reason why they're currently in the playoffs so they're probably pretty confident that their team can keep it going without his presence.
