Isn't he a UFA at season's end?

I don't think they think they can resign him. He is 30 years old and looking for a 4-5 year deal

He brings much more to the table.
Like his inability to skate at an NHL level? Or his pugnacious fight sheet that's as long as Moen's ?

Or is it his huge regression this year and his bad penalties that you find we need?

Yes he brings ability to fight and hit, take ill-advised penalties, he's one of the best floaters out there and his defensive game is simply abysmal.

Just read on TSN's website that Leafs are looking at Keith Yandle amongst others. Is that just wishful thinking or is he really available because if he is, i would love if the Habs can land him.

Yes, we play him on the 4th line. We're gonna have great depth on the wing. Is what supposed to be a problem?

Ryder is very slow and he doesn't look bad with us. He's a beast in fighting department. He hits like a truck.

Yeah, we don't need that.

Let's get Tom Pyatt.

I have a feeling those clamoring for Clowe have never watched him play. At least not this year. If they would, they wouldn't want him on our team, especially at the price that San Jose is rumoured to be asking.

So you are gonna pay a 1st and perhaps a prospect to play someone on the 4th line? That's absurd. It's a hefty price to pay

I have a feeling we're going to trade for O'Byrne.

MB loves bringing back ex-Habs.

Ryder helps us win games. Notice how we have won a ton of games this year?

Players like Ryder help, so your comment doesn't really make sense.

Plus Ryder's looks like Paul Coffey out there compared to Clowe.

We already have a plethora of 4th liners, we don't need another one.

From Pierre Lebruns blog
Habs mulling moves

Rookie Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin heads into his first trade deadline with a few decisions to make.

I’ve reported before about his interest in Ryane Clowe, although, as I said last week, the Habs won’t overpay to get him so I would not classify Montreal as a front-runner.

If they don’t get Clowe, they remain interested in a top-six forward with grit. Montreal would also like to add a depth defenseman.

Sur Ryan Clowe, on me dit que Boston et Montréal ne sont plus au sommet de la liste où l'attaquant des Sharks pourrait être échangé.

It's pretty clear that if you're trading for Clowe, you're hoping that a change of scenery will do him some good. It's not that the Sharks are running him out of town but if they get an offer that would be stupid to ignore, especially if they think he'll just be leaving at the end of the year anyway, it's a trade you have to make.

Clowe hasn't been a huge part of the reason why they're currently in the playoffs so they're probably pretty confident that their team can keep it going without his presence.

Best we can hope for is if we cant get him now,we ge him offseason....so if he does indeed get dealt to another town,i hope it doesnt come with a new sign and trade.

Praise whatever God you have folks!

I personally follow the church of Bergevin these days.

Looking at Diaz's health, we need a veteran minute eating defenseman more than we need Ryane Clowe, at this point.

Defense should be the priority #1.

I've been told Boston and Montreal are no longer on the top of the list of teams where the forward (Ryan Clowe) will be traded to.
