This group has always been a sucker for big and talented guys regardless of faults.

I keep forgetting that DW had nothing to do with these picks...

I think they've been re-thinking that strategy lately.

I don't mind risky picks, but taking guys with no work ethic is almost always a huge mistake.

Seriously. I'm ready for a small, fast, extremely skilled guy who plays no defense over these big, strong, average skilled two way players.

You mean like the guy in your avatar?

Also, not to pick on you, but it bothers me every time I see 'Hertl=Jumbo Joe-lite', considering the two are quite different stylistically.

I edited my post, just remembered DW wasn't in charge then. But the scouting staff stayed the same though, right?

How dare you. Hertl is big, strong, extemely skilled and great two way player. He has no weaknesses except maybe his skating.

I actually didn't become a Sharks fan 'til after the 04-05 lockout and didn't become a serious fan until 07-08, so my timeline when it comes to pre-DW is almost non-existant.

Should I go with Bernier 2.0?

Doug Wilson was GM about a month prior to that draft. He was director of pro development prior to that so he was involved in the scouting and assessing of the draft picks of that year and pretty much every year from 1997 on.

We all have our man-crushes. God knows the Sharks don't exactly have a lot of prospects worthy of man-crushes. Besides Hertl has a better chance of being Jumbo-lite than Irwin has of winning the Norris. Right, KM?

What is even Jumbo Joe Lite? The... uhh.. juxtaposition is so strong. Andrew Cassels? I'm sorry if I use players way too far in the past. Here is a wikipedia link for you from '07 fans so you don't have to bother with google

It's basically when a player accepts that no matter how hard they try they'll never amount to anything more than 1/1000000000th of what Thornton is so they dedicate themselves to his hockey teachings and model their game after his in the hopes that one day they might be 1/1000th the player he is. Notable examples include: Logan Couture, Joe Pavelski, Ryane Clowe, Martin Havlat, Brent Burns and Patrick Marleau.

Hab fan here.

I really really doubt we'd be sending you Eller, Tinordi or Kristo and I'm not even going to comment on offering either of the two Gallys, hahaha.

Louis Leblanc seems realistic. He is struggling this year but I think it's more so how bad the Bulldogs have been and his ankle sprain earlier in the year.

I'd rather not give him up but he's probably the best prospect I'd be willing to part with. He's got really really good hockey sense and has a real good compete level.

We have tons of solid D prospects but Tinordi and Beaulieu should be off limits.

Morgan Ellis could possibly be us giving back what we got from you for Gorges but bigger and more offensive upside.

Magnus Nygren just won the best Defensemen award in the SEL.

We also have 3 2nd rounders (Nashville's and Calgary's with ours) so I'm sure one of those would have to be in play.

Really don't want the Bs to get him and I think he'd be a great piece for us. Let's make a deal!

Don't **** this up, Wilson. There are at least 5 or 6 teams interested and Clowe's list had at least 5 or 6 teams on it.

Hopefully, it's showed him the importance of having any draft picks, regardless of the round.

I don't think he can in the sense that the price might go up really high giving the teams making calls. I think the whole "sign-and-trade" thing makes him so much more attractive. I still want a package that has Koko + 1st (and maybe more at this point).

I don't like Flyers prospects at all, but if we get a young NHLer back from the Flyers (plus picks), that might work.
