Homer needs to stop running his team like a game of NHL 13. But hey it has worked in the past so something must be going right.

There's literally 12-13 games left. Would it pain Philly to just sell off some players and tank (they're sitting at 6th) and position themselves to possibly get Jones?

I would love Jagr back. Jay Bo would be nice to but I'd rather wait til the off season for that.

This is crazy, Holmgrem is going to ruin this club long term.

Wouldn't be a deadline day without Holmgrem doing a few trades.

It's great that they are always trying to win and all, but sometimes being patient actually helps you do that in the near future. There's a reason Philly hasn't won a Stanley Cup in over 35 years, and it has more to do with management than goalies.
Yup, that's why the flyers have the 2nd most finals apperances since their inception. Because they have no patience. You clearly have gm material and are a hockey sage.

Also most Philly fans think they will get rid of either Briere's contract or Bryzgalov's. with the first being more likely.
Thanks... for some reason CapGeek seems to be counting Pronger's cap, which made me second guess why. Bouwmeester really is a great fit, and need for Philly, though the D core is pretty expensive as is.

This. The Flyers team is severely underperforming, just like the Kings did last year. We have all seen how dangerous it is for a skilled team to enter the playoffs without the pressure on their shoulders.

By "it has worked" I assume you mean "repeatedly failed to win the Cup"?

Exactly.

Have some patience. Retool in the offseason. Hell, take two or three offseason to get it right. The core is young enough to take the time to do it right.

Bryz is overpaid, but he has actually played fairly well. They only need a goalie if they amnesty him, which is possible for cap reasons only.

That said....STEP AWAY FROM THE PHONE HOMER

Kings weren't able to score but had one of best goaltenders in the league and great defense with a true 1D. Flyers with the likes of Gervais and Foster on the back end and Bryzgalov in net would be dream come true for every decent team, which wouldn't try to play a run n' gun with them (so yeah, definitely not Pens)...

Maybe so, but it just highlights my point. They aren't patient enough.

They have a good young core that they can be patient with, but they will likely end up swapping it out for a new one, just like they did a couple years ago.

The Flyers never seize to amaze me. Keep on doing what you're doing Snider/Holmgren.

Hmm dealing Bouwmeester to Philly would help take the Flyers out of contention for the top pick and allow the Flames to drop even further.

If the Flames can get even a mediocre return I'd be all for it for that reason alone.

Clowe makes no sense unless we're going to rip up the forward group. Jagr as a rental makes sense, but again depending on cost.

Their biggest need is a top pairing defenseman that fits into the core. With a young forward core, but an aging defense core, they have a problem that gets worse every year. While the defense ages and gets worse every year, the forward core is given another year towards new contracts, making things more difficult to fix.

Top pairing dman are hard to come by. Very hard. Especially one's under the age of 30. Holmgren has pushed hard for a winning core now. Stopping and waiting for the team to develop a top pairing replacement for Timonen isn't going to fit into the way Holmgren is running things. So Bouwmeester makes a lot of sense.

1st rounder and Laughton plus some roster player as a dump to make Bouwmeester fits?
