Carolina Putting Jamie McBain in Play?

Quote:
Jamie McBain's name has surfaced in trade market. Carolina sounds open to options on return. 25 year old will attract offers.#tradecentre
It's odd because a lot of folks, myself included, believed the Hurricanes were interested in acquiring a defenceman, not shipping one out.

Not sure that makes any sense for the Canes.

D-man for d-man swap?

Liles for Mcbain would be a good deal, IMO. It would help Hurricanes get a d-man who can make an immediate impact and improve help mobility and PP while we get a younger solid top 4 d-man.

Perhaps they are trying to trade him for a defensive-minded dman of equal value.

Good fit in NYR. Played with McDonough in college.

If the 'Canes had more posters, Jokinen+ McBain would be the new Ryder + Halak.

McBain for PM Bouchard.

Well, you're bringing up one play to either describe him or make him look bad.

Definitely interested in acquiring a defenseman, but we have a glut of RHD and puck-movers at this point.

McBain is viewed as the most tradeable in the group, and has been somewhat in the doghouse for a while now due to his lack of physicality and stagnant offensive production.

Personally I'd rather keep him unless the return was significant. I don't think this is a guy we trade for a 2nd or anything of that nature. We're going to want a roster player back, probably a solid defensive defenseman.

edit: Also, it's not clear if he's being aggressively shopped or if it's a matter of his simply being available for inquiries.

As @DarrenDreger tweeted earlier, I'm also hearing Jamie McBain is available in Carolina... has one more season on his deal at $1.9 M

I could throw in a guy on a cheap contract if you want... like Philip Larsen if you'll throw in a mid pick.

You're not gonna convince a bunch of Hurricanes fans to take Cole back at this point. He didn't exactly have a graceful exit here.

I haven't the slightest clue of McBains value so ill leave that to you guys but on the main board some are speculating McBain would be a good fit for the rangers.

Also saw he and McD used to play together.

Some are saying Car wants a defensive Dman back.
Would it make sense to trade Girardi?

I don't know if I want to trade G but I saw a conversation about it the other day.

Something around Girardi for McBain, again I have no idea how the value is so one team could add

I see Girardi as being quite a bit more valuable than McBain.

That said, I could see the Canes being willing to add enough to make it happen.

I think the Wild would likely be interested in McBain. No idea on what it would take, though. The Wild have stated in no uncertain terms that they aren't willing to move their higher end prospects and I would assume their first round pick.

Would also believe that Bouchard, Stoner, Scandella, and perhaps a few others could be in play.
