No he wouldn't. He is the Panthers property. Besides, there are absolutely no rumors of any issues between the Panthers and Bjugstad. He is absolutely in the teams plans in the near future. There is a reason the team reached out to him early this past offseason and told him not to worry about any Luongo rumors.

He has a massive frame, skates like the wind, amazing vision/hands. Watching him against Vermont I seriously could not find anything wrong with his game. Maybe he could be a little more defensive and physical but that is it.

Bjugstad could step in and play right now. I saw him growing a bit bored with college hockey. He needs the challenge of the NHL because he was getting stale in the NCAA game. I think he'll be sensational. Just needs a new challenge and it's past time he moved up.

Holy overpayment Batman! Are you even like, aware, that Anton Lander had a 6-point games in the AHL the other night? I mean, Bjugstad is great, but Lander's untouchable.

I really doubt he will be better than Huberdeau... Oh I see you're a Galchenyuk fan haha

Bjugstad would need to finish out his 4 years at Minnesota and not sign a SPC with Florida before August 15,2014 to become a free agent.

I hope he signs soon.

Would love to see him get some NHL action possibly in this awful year.

Let me met this straight. The panthers would be trading 2 of their top 5 prospects from the #2 rated pool in the NHL and would be getting 4 random guys and a 3rd round pick? Just pathetic. Go take a lap

The only thing wrong with his game is consistency. When he is on, he is unstoppable. But there are times when he is invisible. Which is tough for such a big guy.

To the earlier one the AHL rule is about CHL players. Tatar is another guy that simply never reported to his OHL draft team and turned pro in the AHL right away with the Wings as an 18 year old.
This is close to accurate.

Bjugstad cannot become a Free Agent this year. You need to be four years removed from being drafted, but not graduated. So a Junior in college that played a year of USHL, or Canadian Juniors(BCHL style not CHL).

He could become a Free Agent after next year in theory, but for drafted players that complete four years of college and graduate the date to become a Free Agent is August 15th. So he would have to wait until teams spend all their FA money, and pretty much fill up their training camp rosters to sign.

What if the Rangers put Halpern on the waivers knowing someone will pick him up and make room for a prospect like Bjustad...

Pure talent Hubs wins for sure but in overall game I think that Bjugstad is the more complete player. I really see him as a Ryan Getzlaf. Strong first line center for years to come.

I think it would be a mistake to waste of year of his ELC to throw him into the gong show that Florida's season has turned into. Tallon should wait til the offseason to sign him.

But would it burn a yr of his ELC this yr? I think because of the shortened season guys at the beginning of the yr only had 6 games (unlike the usual 9) before it counted as a yr against their contract. With only 12 games remaining in the yr, the Panthers could still get him 6 games and spoon feed him some games while not burning the yr on the ELC.
