throw in our 1st as well

Mcbain has been in the doghouse in Carolina and only has a year left on his contract at $1.9 million... maybe they could get him at a discounted price but who knows

How could he trade Couts when we only have Giroux and Schenn as centers? Talbot is done for the year. Briere could be done. Who do we have in the AHL? Yuck. Nobody.

I like Clowe, but I hope we don't get him, because I just don't see who we'd trade. I agree with most that it'd be awful if we traded away our first pick or Couts, and the only players I'd move are injured as it is. I would've liked Briere for Clowe + (since he's going to be an UFA), though.

It would be especially thrilling when we trade our first for Clowe, before trading him away for a lesser return in the offseason.
He has stupid moves and brilliant moves. I believe he averages out. He is far from being one of the top GM, but he has done a serviceable job.

As for you second part, I agree it would also be thrilling to trade 3 1st rounders for Clowe, extended him and then buy him out next season. But neither has happened yet, so pull the horses back.

Right now Homer is trying to trade every prospect draft pick and contract spaces for Jagr, J-Bo, Clowe and every other player out there. He's trying to make up for missing half our team due to injuries!!!!

Someone might want to tell him there is a thing as salary cap.

The only reason I can see him doing these deals, is if internally he feels his job is one the line.

Otherwise he can't be that stupid.

He has to know that if this teams fails this year, and we manage a top 3-5 pick, keep our guys like Read and Coots, then this half season will be forgotten quickly just like after the last time when Lavy took over.

But if he tries giving away our young talent for a small shot at the playoffs and things go south...I'm pretty sure it's safe to say we will remember that for a much much longer time.

This has to be an April Fools joke. There is no way Couts for Clowe is going to happen.

There's no way around it...buying in this season, with our draft pick and the likely positioning that comes with it, with the holes this team has, is simply stupid.

I think Clowe heads off to Boston. They have more to offer than we do with all of our injuries.
