Thomas Vanek

According to an interview on an Austrian sports page, Thomas Vanek is not interested in a re-build that takes longer than 1 year. If Buffalo would try to seriously contend as soon as next year, he'd love to stay. However as of right now, management has not talked to him.

Apparently the original interview is to be found in the „Buffalo News“.

Management can't talk with him right now... or negotiate with him.

And I don't recall Vanek giving any specifics on time frame of rebuild .. he just said he didnt want a LONG one.

Um, Thomas?

Your team has been 'rebuilding' since they kept you and lost Briere/Drury.

Where did he say 1 year? Oh, he didn't. He just said he didn't want to stay for a long re-build. Which I'm interpreting as he doesn't want to play for Buffalo if we become the new Oilers. I'd also assume he's as good as gone if we trade Miller.

Would love to see Thomas Vanek In a Red Wing jersey just curious what Buffalo would want for him. If he were to be shopped that Is.

He would look real good in Boston along side of Krejci and Lucic.

Send a message via AIM to stokes84
According to Bruce Garrioch, he is the only player not available in Buffalo.

The quote from that link in my translation:
Quote:
"I would like to know what direction we're headed. If there's a rebuilding-period of a year, that's okay, but if there's a two- or three-year plan, one could possibly start looking at options."
However, they say that that is "how he's being cited", so who knows what they have as their primary source. The wording in German almost makes me believe it has already been translated from English to German. When quotes travel these distances, that can alter them.

I would do that In a heartbeat, I think that Ken Holland Is planning on keeping Nyquist. Maybe Tatar and Tvrdon and a 1st Instead.

Nyquist is the main piece in that trade so I would say he has to stay in.

Howard + Nyquist + Tverdon + Cleary + First

for

Actually I would rather give up Nyquist over Tatar, But according to the Detroit Free Press Tatar Is more expendable right now then Nyquist Is They said that as of right now Nyquist has about a 10 year window of service and Detroit would be more apt to keep him over Tatar.

The Red Wings are in their division next year...whenever you want someone in your division the cost is always higher.

You deal a Vanek and a Miller separate to maximize their returns.

Of all the sabres talked about being traded ....Vanek is the least likely. This could change going into next season after contract extension talks.
