How has Genoway faired so far down in Hershey? Haven't had any time to follow the Bears much the past few weeks. Been a fan of him since his freshman season as UND, glad he's in the franchise now.

Also, FWIW, the Bears have actually won four Calder Cups as at he Caps affiliate. They were the Capitals affiliate when they won in 1980 as well.

Bears have been on the road so haven't gotten to see him play very much. The two home games I did see him he was still getting used to the system as they were his first two games. He looked like he would fit in nicely with the Bears and help offensively from the back end but I didn't see any of the games on the road trip so I really haven't been able to truly develop an opinion of him. I will tell you this though, he is very small haha

Fs Civitarese and Paquette recalled from Reading to Hershey, per Jason Guarente.

Could it be dominoes of Caps shipping bodies out of town? Or injuries in Hershey? Got out of touch with Chocolatetown in the last two weeks.

I honestly have no idea. Reading has to have their playoff roster established fairly soon though, so can't imagine it's a temporary move, and could be pre-emptive. I'm not sure what the roster situation in Hershey looks like.

@ScottStuccio: Defenseman Brett Flemming has been reassigned to @RRoyalsHockey. #hbh #Royals

Reading's post-season roster is due by 3pm today so that's all it is.

Maybe the Caps dish Clackson at the deadline if they need a contract slot or something but that's always been a possibility. Flemming being sent down is a little more interesting since he's been playing for the Bears. For the moment they only have seven D counting Cajkovsky and have been limiting Wellar's games so that he doesn't count as a vet next year. Wey should be headed there to make it eight, though.

Kundratek or Oleksy going back to Hershey and Erskine coming back to the Caps roster?

Clackson gone - Rechlicz back. Fans are happy, but it won't really impact the on-ice product.

Garrett Stafford for Dane Byers is a good deal for the Bears. Byers adds size and skill to the forward ranks, and Stafford would've been extra baggage with Kundratek & Orlov coming back to Hershey (which was announced yesterday).

More size to Hershey in the Forsberg deal - Michael Latta comes from Milwaukee.

We've got a serious glut up front - the lineup card will be interesting this weekend.

ECHL playoff rosters are limited to 23 total. With 20 on the roster and 13 playoff eligible players currently on recall (including Civitarese and Paquette) Courville is just keeping his options open. If he had those two on the roster and then had the option to add Grubauer, Wellar, etc later he wouldn't be able to. I wouldn't be surprised if Civiarese and Paquette are still in Reading, and even travel with the Royals, just in case. They just won't be on the roster until they are needed.

Is it fair to assume Wey will be in the mix soon?

If the Caps want him to be, he will be. We had 26 players @ practice today ( 16F - 8D ), and Latta hadn't arrived yet so there's always room for more.

Wey just signed a 2 year ELC with Washington. I'd expect him in Hershey soon.

With the possible addition of Wey, the Bears defense should be pretty solid for the rest of the year.

Orlov
Kundratek
Schmidt
Wellar
McNeil
Genoway
Schillling
Brouillette
Wey

I also want to credit Doug Yingst on reshaping this roster. Even though Hershey has struggled this year, it seems that Doug got rid of the dead weight and brought in some solid players. If this team can come together rather quickly they could make some noise in the playoffs, if they make it.

Calder cup for Bears?

Seems like they have 4-6 stars on their team now that Kundratek, Orlov and Latta are in.

I don't know that anyone made the trip to Syracuse last night. I'll see him and the other new guys when they play tonight, and possibly tomorrow in WBS.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, though I like your thought process. There's a long way to go. I'm a lot more optimistic than I was a month ago, but it's a matter of seeing how things play out. I think by the end of next weekend, we'll have a better ideawhere we stand. They play Syracuse tonight, then 6 straight road games.

Looking at the box score from last night's game, Hershey wins 4-1 over Syracuse. Grubauer in goal. Latta recorded one shot and was a +1. Kundratek with 3 shots and 2 goals for a +3. Believe Orlov stats were similar to Latta's 1 shot, +1 for the night. Schmidt did not dress apparently and I didn't see Rechlicz's name either.

If French decides to dress Rechlicz to stoke the crowd (who will go bats**t if he's announced as a scratch), the likely choice to sit would be Pope. Could see Genoway coming in on D if they decide to swap Wellar out for a night. Not sure Schmidt will play right away.

If Schmidt is healthy in ready to play, he must play. I think Caps need to have some say in it. You can't play Wellar or Brouillette over the club's top prospects like Kundy, Orlov or Schmidt.

You nailed it. The four prospects (including Schmidt) all played, in addition to Brouilette & McNeill.

Rechlicz played, Pope played, Stoa sat.

This is why I don't gamble.
