If that were to happen, what would be the best (or least worst) realistic scenario? For me it would be a trade with Philly or Colorado.

I understand. Just giving my opinion. I don't think there is anyone available who we should trade a 1st for.

We'd take one of Eberle or Yakupov no problem... You can just bump Hemsky up and your surplus is solved.

That's how we should respond to Edmonton proposals from now on. "No but we'll take one of Hall/RNH/Eberle/Yakupov..."

Canucks need more prospects + picks.

Raymomd + 2nd rd pick

For

CBJ 1st rd pick

Columbus gets a speedy tweener and slightly falls in the draft while Van moves up a couple of picks

This is no offense to Raymond, but I really would rather we steered clear of him. After his injury he hasn't seemed the same. If he hadn't fractured his vertebrae against the Bruins he would be one of the few players I would be hard after.

Hope and think he can be an impact player at the NHL in the near future but I'd rather let Vancouver take that chance than Columbus.

This is one of the reasons I hate HF sometimes. We're all fans. We all cheer for our teams for the same reasons. Yet posts like this exist because of some stupid inferiority complex that arises because of a paranoid mindset that comes over people when they think another fan is trying to put their players or team down.

Hemsky would be nice to have; he would provide a puck handling ability that we don't have. But we're trying not to use a band-aid approach. With the new regime, every move is going to be calculated based on how it will help us years down the road. Acquiring Hemsky for one of our firsts just isn't the type of move that we're looking for. It has nothing to do with Edmonton, their fans, or anything personal. It's about us. Please just respect that and try to see it from our angle. There's no need for such a snide comment at the end there.

No. Neither of those players are worth a first, let alone a top prospect like Jenner

Montreal has had interest in D David Savard for a while now. John Moore being a frequent scratch gets ya thinking, too.

Aucoin could fetch a late-round pick for a club seeking defense depth, but #CBJ may want his leadership in the room for what lies ahead.

Would #CBJ part w James Wisniewski? Yes, I think they would, but it's hard to imagine his contract being moveable w his rash of injuries.

I could see a trade around Cammy at 4.5 working. It would have to be for the LA 1st. Maybe a 3rd or 4th thrown in.

Cammy at 4.5 is very attractive.

Would the Jackets be interested in Paul Stastny? He's on the short term IR right now, but IMHO he would be a good addition for their team.

My only qualm is that we may finally have gotten something right (our defense). Let's not dismantle it unless we're positive it won't also dismantle our game.

I would be, some other CBJ fans wouldn't be. He makes a good chunk of change and only has 1 year left. But I don't think he's a whacko like Carter and would stay if Columbus were competitive and he had a high profile role on the team.

Question is what would it cost?

I don't think you've seen him play at all.

I wouldnt do that deal as a Canucks fan unless he is not re-signing with the team. Raymond is playing very well, showing great speed and chemistry with Hansen and Shroeder.

He's a great 2nd liner to have on the team and also defensively responible.

From a Leafs' standpoint, he is expendable. With Komarov returning, I can see us rolling a line of Komarov-Grabo-Frattin, instead of Macarthur-Grabo-Frattin. Although Komarov doesn't bring as much offensively, he brings a better defensive and physical game. If we're getting a 1st in return, that's a downgrade I am willing to make.
actually, this doesn't make a lot of sense because Macarthur isn't very good and doesn't have first round value....which doesn't even take into consideration he is an impending UFA, which goes against the reported information which was the CBJ would be willing to deal a first for a player with term who could help the playoff push and be a part of the team going forward.

Jackets willing to trade a first-round pick

My TSN colleague Darren Dreger was first to report this, but I can also confirm that the Columbus Blue Jackets, suddenly in a playoff spot, are willing to move one of their three first-round picks in the June 30 draft if they can get a scoring forward in return. (In today's edition, the Columbus Post Dispatch also reported that the Jackets would be willing to move one of their picks.) Mind you, they wouldn't do that for a rental player; it has to be a player with term past this season, a source told ESPN.com.

Still, that's a shift in thinking from when new GM Jarmo Kekalainen took over earlier this season and had only the long-term view in mind. It seems the incredible run the Jackets have been on over the past month-plus has forced him to try to throw his team a bone.

It also wouldn't surprise me if Columbus was willing to move a defenseman to get that top-six, scoring forward.

The Jackets are gonna be in a grind from here on in. Moreso if they get into the playoffs. A player like Ales "Glass Shoulders" Hemsky isn't who they need.
