Doughty had a strong case for the Conn Smythe last year IMO, gotta take him although Subban has been great in the playoffs early in his career.

The one thing I absolutely HATE about Doughty, is that he plays like crap when it doesn't matter, but then turns it on when it does.

It drives me crazy that he just doesn't seem to put in the same amount of effort in regular season games, as he does in the playoffs and other tournaments.

That being said, I'd EASILY pick Doughty if for playoffs only. This guy turns into a beast when a game matters and is a complete game changer in important games. (see Stanley Cup finals last year and Olympics)

I'd argue that Doughty was the best defenseman of last year's playoffs.

I'd be extremely surprised if anybody argued against that.

Subban, Doughty is one of the most overrated defencemen in the NHL.

On a side note, Subban has almost as many VS. threads as Kadri.

Doughty. He steps it up in big games. (Not saying PK doesn't)

Key words Olympics (2010) and "LAST" playoffs. Subban is having a better season THIS year.

Anyone with two eyes can see Subban is playing much better than Doughty THIS YEAR. This isn't last year and it isn't the Olympics from 2010.

This year:
Doughty: 38GP 16P (0,4PPG)
Subban: 32GP 32P (1PPG)

Doughty last year: 77GP 10G 26AS 36P (0,4PPG) (Reg season)
Doughty last year: 20GP 4G 12AS 16P (0,8PPG) (PO)
this year: 38GP 16P (0,4PPG) -Regular season
This year: ?? ?? ?? -Po
We are talking about PO not Regular season..

all time Playoffs
Doughty:32 GP 9G 18AS 27P (0,8PPG)
Subban: 21GP 3G 9AS 12P (0,6PPG)

All time Regular:
Doughty: 354GP 45G 133AS 178P 0,5PPG
Subban: 192GP 31G 77AS 108P 0,6PPG

I like this pole.. close to each other... you can make argument for both of them.. i wont comment on Subban play, because i dont watch MTL enough, but Doughty is playing very good this year.. he is much more responsible for his own end.. (Paired with Muzzin most of the time..)

Anyone with two eyes who is only looking at the stat sheet. Doughty is playing an entirely different role this year as the team is missing its two physical stay at home guys.

Don't worry Doughty will never get his due around here because:

1. near everbody hates his him
2. people don't watch him play
3. he doesn't put up as many points as the latest flavor

Once point 3 changes, which it will, people will hop on the Doughty bandwagon again although reluctantly because everyone has their own agenda. It's funny too because every d-man that's supposed to be better than Doughty gets outplayed by him head-to-head, but alas he has less points than them so he's worse.

Personally, I would love to see a Doughty-Subban pairing for team Canada.

I think they would complete each other nicely.

Regular season, Subban and very easily.
Playoffs: Doughty, he went into beast mode last year and I expect it again
