Why is this even a topic of discussion? There is absolutely no way Couts is traded in a deal for Ryan clowe. How does that make sense for us AT ALL? It addresses no need for us as Simmonds and Hartnell are both better at the job that Clowe would do and couturier is 20 ****ING YEARS OLD.

ONLY and I mean ONLY way I'm trading Couts is if a guy like Gormley, Murray etc is coming back.

I agree. But has it happened?

Nope. But the fact that there are even rumors of the Flyers buying is highly disturbing.

I'd consider that.

Hartnell and a 2nd for a 1st and Moore/Erixon?

They aren't buying for a playoff run in any of the rumors. Clowe, Bouwmeester... I dont see why you have a problem with that.

That would be nice. It would probably depend on which of the 1sts are in play. As of mid-March their three picks were (I think) #8, #16, #21. I don't know that Hartnell alone could get the #8. I would think he could get #21, maybe #21 plus something.

Why the hell would we trade Scott Hartnell? Who is going to replace him?

I really don't think there's much to work with here (nothing involving couturier or burns is going to happen) unless SJ is just trying to replace Clowe if they know he's going to sign elsewhere anyway.

if that were the case maybe something like

Clowe+ 2013 1st + 2013 2nd for Hartnell + Conditional 3rd 2013 (becomes a 2nd if Clowe resigns with Flyers)

SJ gets a replacement and upgrade from Clowe that's signed long term and is a good character/locker room guy and some value for a player that was going to walk anyway, Flyers get much needed picks in a deep draft and cap space, and a guy to replace Hartnell for the remainder of the season. Can only see this happening if the Flyers are going to rebuild. Flyers would likely sign Jagr in the offseason for added depth up front, one of Simmonds, Read, or Schenn would play on the top line wing.

Just kicking some ideas around since I can't see these two teams being good trade partners at this point.

I like him a lot and and since he has a NTC I doubt he's going anywhere. But if you have a chance to get another first round pick (which in turn could be used to move up in the draft) I would seriously consider it. As for replacing him, I think Simmonds more or less already has.
