If they trade Poms, I'm just going to go be a Pens fan. This franchise sucks.

I am with you. I want him to retire a Sabre so bad. My favorite all time Sabre by far.

I'm only worried that we wikl get bad returns on players because of how we value them compared to market value. Hopefully if its a poor return darcy holds on instead of trading to make a trade.

I don't even know what I want. I hope Vanek re-signs next year long term and we show him we are committed to winning (and not a lengthy rebuild). I hope he finishes his career in Buffalo. T- < 48 hours. But it's good to hear GMDR talk candidly about the possibility of trades, which include the core. In typical GMDR fashion, we'll all be surprised.

Yeah, I'm with you on that, I hope that if they're traded we really get something back that helps this team and not just some random assembling of no name prospects and late rounders.

I'm so unattached to the guys this year that I hope Regier trades everyone for picks, and then next year he can just lay some paperwork on the ice to represent the team in game 1.

I would easily take 8th place finish to get a chance to watch my team in the playoffs. (Even if 1st or 2nd round exit) A losing team is unattractive to potential FA and just paints a general bad aura over our city. (IE. Bills) I just hope we don't end up not making the playoffs for 5,6,7,8 years like the Oilers/Leafs.
I'm so tired of the "model" argument... the reality is, there are examples for each side of the argument, and those arguments are distorted even further to meet the arguers needs

I think trading Poms and Miller would represent an acknowledgement that they had their time, they had their chances over 6 years, and that it's time for the team to move on, and start fresh... it's time to build around a new core. There is an admission that you have to take a few steps back to start moving forward again... but whether it's an Edmonton rebuild or a Pittsburgh rebuild, has nothing to do with the situations those teams faced... but EVERYTHING to do with how Buffalo handles IT'S OWN rebuild.

I'm with you on this. I don't want Byron+Butler kinds of prospects. Depending on who we're talking about, I'd rather keep guys around. Gotta get 1sts, 2nds, and/or prospects who have a good shot of being top 4/top 9 contributors in the NHL. And on top of that, guys like Pominville and Miller can be traded in the offseason and up until the next deadline if the return right now isn't worthwhile.

Hardly surprising, but it's nice to know Regier has options (outside the obvious LA). That means A) he can drive up the price, and B) he has more chances Regehr will actually agree to go to one of them.

I'd be surprised if Regehr isn't traded at this point. He seemed pretty open to it with his "right situation" response, and if Darcy is getting lots of interest, you'd have to think he'd be fine with going to at least one of the destinations interested in him.

If Regehr doesn't waive his NTC to go play somewhere else for a couple measly months I'll rage

It's only Jason Pominville and the team needs to retool.

We can't be married to players (see Regier), we must do what is best for the future of the franchise, and whatever puts us in better conditions for a Stanley Cup

For a moment, the top three threads on the Trades forum were about Buffalo players. Circle the corpse and pick the bones. All scavengers welcome!

We can do what the **** we want, we're fans.
We can be unreasonable and believe in the guys and love them
We can critize them all day, pointing out their flaws and weaknesses.
we can be on the fence what's better for the team, either move or keep them.

WE as fans can do whatever.

It's Darcys job to do whatever is needed to put this team on the right track.

It's pretty fair to say that we built this team around Miller, Pominville and Vanek. Either you continue to do that by re-signing them all or you realize the present course is broken and you try to maximize value for the future core. Trading at least one is a must IMO.

Pominville's not leading any sort of new core to do anything, so what's the difference?

You know what? I've been reading these boards everyday for quite sometime. I've been following Chain and the gang since ESPN. I've seen Jame and his agenda's for years, some I agree with, some not so much. But this post finally broke the mold for me to post. I agree with 150% of this. I'm so ready to move on and up!

I can't believe how married some posters get to players...I'm in it for the long haul...the crest on the front not necessarily the name on the back...

I'll save my adoration for the players that take us to a Cup...this "core" has lead us no where as long as they've been the main pieces...

I'm saying I personally don't have the patience to sit through another 5 years of MAYBE TYLER ENNIS REALLY IS THE FIRST LINE CENTER WE ARE LOOKING FOR. This GM doesn't know what it takes to win in this league.

What does that have to do with Pominville?
