Canadiens inquiring about Regehr

Any Sabres fans care to comment on his play this year? Still a big, strong guy. Not afraid to drop mitts now and then, and had a good scrap with Neil this month.

Has he got any gas in the tank?

Once Therrien puts him on the pp you'll hear the collective Sabres fan base face palm.

He's lost a step but he's still a good defender.

I think Regehr will be strong down the stretch and will be a playoff warrior. If he's smart, he'll waive his NTC for a shot this year and take note of who the real contenders are if his team falls short. He'll get another shot again during free agency.

it's all good as long as we don't overpay for a rental. i'd be happy if we got him for a 4th.

I'd have to think the return would be similar to Murray's.

You realize what defensemen have gone for at the deadline the last few seasons plus what Murray and Leopold already gone for? Start with a 2nd and add

If by 4th you mean a 2nd plus 1 of LeBlanc/Bealieu or Tinordi

I don't see it. The last thing we need is another left handed Dman.

yes, i do. and i don't care what other teams are willing to pay for help.

Regehr is a UFA who plays 18-19 minutes a game. i'd rather see another team snag him up than give up good value for a player that isn't as effective as he used to.

If thats what the Sabres want, they can eat him and get nothing.

Regehr will get a solid return. However, same with the Clowe situation. If the Regehr bidding gets too high, the habs will pull out. They're not going to dent the future for a rental.

How does this sound:

TO MTL: Regehr and Buffalo's 5th rounder
To BUFF: 2013 Habs 2nd, Frederic St-Dennis(Or Greg Pateryn), Patrick Holland & Rights to Andreas Engqvist

** If the Habs make the Eastern Conference final, we add a 2013 3rd round pick and Buff keeps their 5th round pick

I still feel like MTL would be underpaying though, especially at trade deadline day

because NSH were desperate for a player like him.

the Habs aren't desperate for a player like Regehr. use within context.
