I think so too. There's a lot to like about Pominville, but he's 30 and has played with Vanek for most of his best years, no? He's known for his defense but he's barely a positive possession guy playing mostly average minutes. I'd love him on this team, but I don't wanna get caught in the bidding war and overpay for someone who's more of a complementary piece.

If he's available, I don't care why he's available. Lou has to at least inquire if he is on the block.

As am I. I also would prefer not to trade Gelinas, Severson, or Larsson. But you have to give to get, so it's possible that one of those guys will be on the way out if Lou makes a move.

so the leafs may actually get a goalie.

This logic is unreal. Should we trade Larsson since hes been a healthy scratch?

That's it Nonis, really make your mark on this team by doing everything you can to ruin the first good Leafs goalie since the last lockout.

All indications are pointing towards Ryane Clowe not being in the San Jose lineup tonight.

The way this team is playing, we're not on the cusp of anything great except a great big nosedive out of a playoff spot. Don't sell the farm. It's a sellers market and if you can get something decent for Clarkson and any of our D except Greene and Larsson, they you seriously look at it. Clarkson is not going to be the catalyst to us making the playoffs of winning a round and he's npt going to be worth what he gets paid as an UFA. Save the money and resign Elias, Zubrus, Henrique, and maybe Zidlicky.

Clarkson and our 2014 3rd (conditional) to Columbus for the NYR 1st rounder. (We get it back if he resigns in CLB).

Tallinder, A Train, Harold, Poni, Kostopolus - take you pick for a 4th rounder.

Mark Fayne could fetch a 2nd or decent prospect.

I don't see us making a "splash"

Columbus is probably giving up their own first before New York's, at this point.

I'm not convinced it's a good thing for us if the Flyers do mortgage the farm for him. He could very well thrive on a team like Philly.

No chance he thrives more than Couturier, who might actually be one of the best defensive forwards in the league this season.

@DarrenDreger: Robyn Regehr has been asked to waive NMC to go to LA Kings and intends to do so. Deal still to be done. Details to follow. #tradecentre

Flames trade Bouwmeester to St. Louis.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 2s
Wow. Flames announce Bouwmeester to St Louis for a 1st and two prospects...#tradecentre

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle 11s
Flames get 2013 first rounder, Mark Cundari and Reto Berra for Bouwmeester. If Blues don't make playoffs, first rounder deferred to 2014.

If Lou doesn't trade a D he's crazy for some of these returns they're netting

I think that's a good price for Bouwmeester. They got a solid top 4.

Regehr gets two 2nds? Damn...

Love that the Blues protected themselves against the "Bouwmeester effect", deferring their 1st rounder if they miss playoffs.

Agreed my Finnish friend. It was stupid, and then top off the fact Lou invited WASHED UP Mathieu Darche to training camp and personally called him himself. Before someone says ''Different roles'' yeah we really needed another PK guy/3rd/4th liner more than a goal scorer. We needed him as much as we need all these defensemen. Of course Darche retires a few weeks later too.

How about Steen?

Bouwmeester is making $6.6m, Blues need to re-sign their RFAs Berglund, Stewart, Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk, among others. I'm pretty sure they have an internal budget too.

Gotta think someone will be on their way out and give Tarasenko & Schwartz more minutes and maybe bring up Rattie.

True enough. But Couturier might not be the price.

They'll make those trades after the playoffs, not before.
