Sources: Andrus, #Rangers close on eight-year deal, believed to be for $120 million.

Holy crap.

More intrigue on what they do with Profar...

Over the last two years, Andrus is 3rd among MLB shortstops in each version of WAR. The market will pay that handsomely.

There's a thought... Isn't Washington a huge Kinsler fan though?

Didnt they just sign Kinsler to a new contract? I don't think they trade him.

Kinsler to LF and Profar to 2B. Infield of Profar/Andrus/Beltre is crazy good defensively.

Also Andrus is not worth 8/120.

He most definitely is. And its actually a discount, Im pretty sure the Yankees would have been happy to give him more than that as a free agent after next season.

Pretty sure you're right, Andrus was the Yankees' plan to replace Jeter at short. They certainly would've given him this much if he ever hit the open market.

I bet a couple of other young SS like Ian Desmond are happy as well today.

I just meant that as framework for a trade, obviously the Dodgers would eat some salary and likely give up a B prospect (someone like Magill.)

Bombers were eyeing him, he's a Boras client, and would likely have had a three way bidding war between Texas, New York, and Los Angeles. He would've gotten paid.

He has an opt-out after 2018. Assuming he keeps up his current play until then, he'll definitely opt out and get more than 15 million per year on the open market. In all likelyhood, this isreally a 4 year/$60 million extension.

I realize that. If I were a GM, I wouldn't be one of them bidding on him. I like him, but not that much. Texas has the resources and the need, so it's a good fit. I just think it's too much.

The Cardinals would welcome Kinsler. I doubt he gets traded though; the Rangers infield is crazy good now.. if Profar proves to be the real deal
