I'd would rather have Moore plus a 2nd but probably. I do think if the Flyers were to trade Read at this deadline they would receive a nice haul, high pick plus good prospect, but I doubt they would.

I woulda said $5 million max. I think it is pretty clear that this year is an aberration. Fully confident that he rebounds next season. That said, I still think $6 + is an overpayment. He is on the same level as Hartnell IMO and somewhere around his contract is where I would be comfortable with him.

That first wont play on the team for a few years, which sets us back too.

Soooooo.... Maybe.
Read's cap hit remains low for one more season. Now is the time to sell, but that requires forward thinking which the Flyers do not possess.

Rangers? Not a chance.
I meant the Rangers first rounder they own. Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah I agree. I think the market for Read is never going to be any higher than it is right now. He is signed cheap next season and obviously can play. That being said, I don't think the Flyers have any interest in trading him, and nor should they unless it is going to be a big overpayment.

The Rangers 1st could easily end up being a Top 5-10 pick with the way they are sliding. I would 100% do it, and it gives us flexibility if need be to flip our own pick

I knew what you meant. I'm not trading him in the division to the team I can't beat for a first rounder. They would really have to sweeten the deal for me to flip him.

?? Columbus is not in our division yet. And we don't have problems beating them?

The Rangers traded their first rounder in the Nash deal to Columbus. I was saying if Columbus comes with the NYR first rounder, would you consider it?

Columbus owns the Rangers, Kings and their own 1st rounders this year.

Yes. That's two possible top 15 picks. Or. Top 10 and lower first depending how this plays out. It's a deep draft so that pick holds value. We can trade one for help now and draft for tomorrow. That's great value for Matt Read

I posted on the trade board that I'd trade read for whatever their highest draft pick, (read whichever first is further from the 1st overall), and their fans were mad

According to twitter, Ryan Clowe is being held out of the lineup tonight for the Sharks.

Yeah, I don't get the talks about moving Read. If he gets you help on defense, then sure, he could probably be had. Moving him just because they should be sellers would dumb.

I don't think we get him honestly. Just reporting on the players we are supposed to have interest in.

There was rumblings we were looking at Burns+Clowe package. If that is true, Couts would definitely going their way.

While a mid-1st is good value for Read, I am not eager to trade him. I wonder if they have a sense of what kind of $$$ he will be looking for next summer. With briere possibly gone, Read may have a big role to ply going forward.

That would tear me apart... Burns is one of my fave D-men in the league, shame he is always injured, and I absolutely love Couts and think he will be an all star one day. I duno what I would do.

Thats just it, it wouldn't be a terribly high pick. It would almost certainly be Top 10-16, and worse if they continue to slide (the Rangers that is). Reads value definitely won't be much higher than it is now.

I like Burns, but I think if Couts is getting traded for a Dman, we could do better. Yandle's name has been mentioned, and we don't know what other defenders that are being talked about in trade talks with GM's. I like Burns, but would rather have a more established, less injury prone defenseman other than him.

Well, his value might not go higher, but that in itself is not a reason to mo him.

Except it's short for "as if I could care less". That's the implied part.

The point is, this team for all intents and purposes will not win a Cup this season (as much as we all wish it). Read is a very expenable asset, we have quite a few young players would could in a pinch play the 2nd/3rd line (which is probably where Read is most suited with our top 6). If we can acquire a top 15 pick or so, why the heck wouldn't you? It helps replenish our pretty terrible farm and give us something to look forward to.
