As long as we're in the world of total make-believe, can we not just enjoy it for a moment without the sniping. To help everyone get in the mood, think:

Higgins Koivu Dumont
Samsonov Malkin Kovalev

Kind of takes your breath away...

The Montreal off-season is more entertaining than the hockey season itself.

If there were some kids mixed in with Ryder and Aebi and picks, then I'd believe it.

You bring up "par for the course" without mentioning that any rumor on CKAC would involve atleast one of: Lecavalier/Daze/Tanguay/Gauthier/Boucher/Bergeron/Vermette/Laraque/Dumont/Briere/Turgeon

Not to mention that their tongues would burn off on air should they dare mention that a Russian is rumored on his way to Montreal.

Yeah, that's probably where the bias and xenophobic labels stem from.

As far as calling out the media for incompetence... I guess you conviniently missed out on half the posts in this thread. Par for the course, though.

Malkin may be in Montreal after his great escape but i seriously doubt that it's because the Pens wants to trade him to the Habs.

I would still take him for any proposals in this thread though , even the Higgins + Markov ect ect ect one.

This rumour makes as much sense as the Thornton to San Jose for Sturm, Stuart and Primeau rumour.

Ummm... Not really. I know a lot of people here like Ron, but I'm not one of those people.

He stated that Andrei Markov = Chris Pronger during last year's playoffs. He has said a lot of other dumb things as well.

The French media is no better than the English media here. They both have plenty of downsides, but offer us a ton of coverage of our beloved Habs.

10 * 0 = ?

On the one hand, the Penguins are stacked with young talent and could figure that parting with one, albeit as big as Malkin, might be worth it if it gets them out of the hole quickly and gets all those youngsters a competitive team now. Getting a package of players from a single team is no doubt better chemistry wise than what they tried last year big signing UFAs from all around - that obviously didn't work. So trading Malkin could make sense, I think.

On the other hand, there has to be better packages to be received in exchange for Malkin.

We don't generalize about the English media, but we do, constantly, about the french media. That's all I meant.

Ryder, Komisarek, Kostitsyn, and two first rounders, then they'd think about it.

I can understand why Pitt would want to trade Malkin after his dissapearing act. With a new ownership et al the team would be more attractive to buy without Russian Mob Links...they are going to be all over this kid (if they aren't already what with the Prison Themed Restaurant and all).

Malkin is in a world of trouble right now. Someone in Russia is going to want to make an example of him and make it hurt for him.

Samsonov and Kovalev seem to know the right people and might be able to help Malkin out.

I could also imagine that any trade of Malkin could be with the blessing of the Casino group to keep the Russian mob out of Pittsburgh.

If it doesn't get closed, I think that we can catch the poutine thread. The Canes' poutine thread, not the Habs'.

I'd throw Ryan O'Byrne for them to stop thinking and just accept

Unrelated, but Malkin's Russian team coach, Dave King (I wish he stayed in Montreal) Has made it official that Malkin gave 2 weeks notice, and is probably living with Ovechkin right now.

Did he borrow any money from the Theodore family?
