Kipper would make the Leafs a bit more formidable.

It's better then going after Luongo. Feester is probably more willing to take picks then a true hockey deal like Gillis wants.

Feaster is a better trading partner because he's a ****ing moron. Look at the Bouwmeester trade today. Feaster got a goalie prospect who has never played a single game in NA.

The point was why go after a goalie
Their two have been fine this year

Fasth had never played a game in North America before this year as well. That's a poor argument. Berra is not a world beater, but he could certainly be a solid backup next year for CGY.

Fasth came over as a FA signing. Anaheim gave up nothing for him. What realistic expectations could Calgary have for someone they gave their best D for?

I don't disagree with the premise, the returns for Iginla and J-Bo were bad (Giordano>Bouwmeester though). However the key piece was the first in both deals and dismissing Berra just because he has not played in NA to this point is shortsighted (STL tried to get Berra across several times, he was supposed to come across last year, didn't, will likely come across this year).

If he can come over, great. Good for Calgary. The 1sts from playoff teams don't mean much, ergo more emphasis has to be placed on the prospects coming with the picks. Feaster has failed at getting quality prospects thus far.

So if they had gotten Olli Maata/Jordan Schmaltz + depth prospect + 4th rounder it would be better?

That really depends on how deep those playoff teams make it. The 1st from Pittsburgh is better served in moving up the draft if they don't get 1st overall pick. The STL pick is worth considerably more for just the pick itself. The Calgary Flames are in 'retooling' mode right now, so I'm not expecting any prospect to just immediately step right in to the lineup, but they need to be worth the rental. Are any of the players traded to Calgary worth the rentals going the other way?

Reto Berra, there's a name I haven't heard in awhile. Was really impressed by what I saw from him in the 2006 WJC in Vancouver, hope he gets a chance in Calgary.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have traded defenceman Marc-Andre Bergeron to the Carolina Hurricanes for forward Adam Hall and a seventh round draft pick.

My bad. I thought the trade, rumour, free agent thread was just for jets news as it is headed with Jets- rumours , trades etc.

I meant that I posted something in the wrong thread, so I deleted it, and then instead of just having an empty post, I would add some value to the discussion by responding to yours.

Sorry, should have worded that differently. I'll edit.

I wonder if there are issues with Roy.....moved twice in 10 months? Vancouvers window is closing and they need to give this a go now.....I agree with the move.
