Nothing that makes sense for both sides... A bad match, I think.

Close thread. Markov will not be traded in a year when the Habs are playoff bound.

Philly wouldn't want him, too old, doesn't fit in with what they are trying to do. Habs need him for the playoff push and Philly isn't prepared for what the habs would demand, which is properly their 1st this year, or something to that degree.

Ahhaahahha i was bling to White thé same ( couturier ) .... If ur willing to give us couturier then it ok with us .... If u don't make the playoff your 1 round would be a starting point !! Markov is a beast , he run a pp like no body else does !!

Nope. Not to an eastern team. Not to Philly, especially. Not while the Habs are gearing up for the playoffs.

Uh Hab fans, you would not get Couts for old injury prone Markov....granted he is having a nice comeback year but no thanks...I would not want to risk anything for him at this point in his career!

We need a young stud d man.....

You can keep Couturier and his 2 goals. Some Philly fans didn't even want to trade him for Subban.

god no

as if you're going to get couts or a first for an overpaid 34 year old, let alone use those as a starting point and get more than that. wouldn't trade a bag of pucks for him tbh, we have no cap space as it is.

i don't think fans of other teams realize when they make these ridiculous trade proposals that the flyers don't have any cap space at all. we can't afford to take back 4-5 million dollars in salary for your aging, overpaid players and we sure aren't going to give you all our best players, prospects, and draft picks to do so.

If Markov is an overpaid (5.75M/year) 34 year old whilst 5th in points overall for defenceman. Ahead of an aging overpaid run-down Timmonen.

Couturier has to be the most overrated player in the league. He has 9 pts and a plus/minus of -12. And this is a guy Flyers fans are touting as future Selke candidate???

Meanwhile Markov's impact on the Habs is astounding. Markov is the most underrated player in the last decade.

I just realized how badly timed this thread was, with the deadline in 2 days and the standings being what they are etc. But Markov being moved would make sense to me.

How so? Markov is not gonna improve, and lost a step with all the injuries. Montreal's prospect farm hopefully has Markov's PP presence covered with Beaulieu for the future, and add to that Subban who's having a Norris-contention season and Tinordi that is likely to play the full season next year. Right now Markov's value is arguably at the highest it's going to be until the end of his career, unless he has ridiculous playoffs (unlikely IMO). Seeing him being moved in this offseason isn't a stretch. Before the playoffs, less likely but still possible with Montreal needing size for the playoffs.

I was also under the impression that the Flyers had a terrible PP right now but it appears they are first in the league, so oh well. Even then, Markov could help the defense and bring some veteran experience to the team. You know who else is getting old? Timonen.
