Yeah I can see it done with Nashvilles second

Apart from that I'm really looking forward to the draft cause it gives us a good chance to see what kind of team we will have moving forward in the next few years, I'd love to get a solid goal scorer to go with chuckie who fits that bill well in the mid-late first or second rounds?

-Mid 1st round: Anthony Mantha, Adam Erne and Max Domi.
-Late 1st round: Valentin Zykov and Andre Burakovsky.
-2nd round: Pavel Buchnevich, Nick Sorensen and Anthony Duclair.

Thats really about it unless we trade up high enough to get Hunter Shinkaruk, Valeri Nichushkin or one of the Mooseheads. Already any of Mantha, Erne or Domi is a stretch. Zykov looks like the best option at this point but it is still doubtful that he goes past 20-25.

As of right now, with the way we are playing and in the standings, I prefer the Habs to make a long playoff run and ultimately put all our chances to win the Cup. I don't think our 1st round pick will be that significant in terms of picking a strong prospect..we have 3 2nd rounders!

I think Lazar is gone by our 1st round pick .. sad!
Lazar will be long gone by our pick. I say he goes top-15. Maybe even top-10.

I really like Zykov and I think our pick may be in the 20-25 range

Someone who doesn't get any hype lately is Wennberg. Is it possible he falls to the Habs?

Possible, I think he doesnt have the offensive flair as some of the other guys but he can develop into a good 2 way player for sure. Whenever we draft out of Sweden I have full confidence.

And finally, we'd like to mention Alex Wennberg, who has quietly climbed the rankings all season until he snuck into our top 20. Honestly, we never expected at the start of the year that Wennberg would be the second-highest-rated Swedish player on our board.

He's like a chameleon in that he's so versatile, a team can plug him in any place in the rotation, and he changes his spots to become exactly what the role requires. First-line scorer? No problem. Second-line two-way threat with finesse and some power? Check. Penalty-killing demon? Umm, yes.

I secretly hope Nichushkin falls in our lap, that kid is going to be a beast in this league. I had the pleassure to watch him a number of time in the KHL this season and IMHO he's the most impressive Russian prospect since Malkin. He looks like a man child at times even though he's playing against grown men.

And that's why he won't fall to the Habs

http://www.draftsite.com/nhl/mock-draft/2013/

Seven round mock draft, bit erratic but some nice picks for the Habs:

27-Andre Burakowsky, LW, Malmo
34-Nick Sorensen, RW, Quebec
42-Jacob de la Rose, LW, Leksands
57-Ryan Kujawinski, C, Kingston
76-Zach Nastasiuk, RW, Owen Sound
87-Gustav Olofsson, D, Green Bay
147-Cal Petersen, G, Waterloo
177-Jamal Watson, RW, Lethbridge
207-Mads Eller, C, Frolunda

3 Swedes, 2 Danes and some names Bob Cole will never be able to pronounce properly.

You never know, his contract with Traktor will probably scare a lot of teams away, but yeah I have a hard time seeing him fall in our laps unless we lose in the 1st round.

Yeah, if he's there at 20, I would trade our 1st + Bozon or another prospect to move up and take him.

I'll never be sold on Sorensen. Wouldn't take him with our first four picks.

I wouldnt touch Sorensen that igh but other than that I would be pretty happy with this draft. Maybe 1 more D with 1 of the top 5 pick though.

Isn't it the same as before and draft order is set by regular season record until the Conference Finals (ie. last 4 teams standing get last 4 picks)?

Once we make the playoffs, we go to win- there are no draft implications until the conference finals.

I could see them taking MacKinnon especially with Weiss potentially moving on. Florida already has crazy prospect depth at centre, and could use a top end D prospect like Jones too. As long as Drouin doesn't end up with either the Panthers or the Lightning I'll be happy.

Depends how you evaluate Poirier's potential.

In 5 years, who do you think the best player will be?

You have to be impressed by Poirier's game, but I think Dauphin will end up being the better one.

I think Poirier will be the kind of ''know what you getting'' type of player, which should be second line worthy game.

With Poirier I think you could get some first, some second and some all-star like games. He reminds me a bit of Kane, in the way he just takes over a game with all that clutchness

All of those 1st rounders will be gone by the 20th pick along with Gauthier, the 2nds are usually where teams pick bigger, physical players,Bergevin and Dudley like.
