Wow. There's an upset. Simpson's NoDak lost 4-3 in OT to Colorado College.

No points for Simpson.

The Jones' play Brown at 4 EST today to stay alive.

They have time until June to sign or trade him.
Otherwide he will go back to the Draft.
In Kitchener they are sure other NHL clubs are interested in him and he will play AHL next year.
0 reasons for him to be not signed by the oilers. The kid is only 8 months older than Yakupov and was putting up similar numbers in the same league last year. Not saying he is a surefire future NHLer but you dont let players like go for nothing unless there are red flags.

NCAA is an under rated development path IMO.
He played C (I believe...) against guys up to 23/24 years old with more experience than him.
Can't do that in the CHL.

Weak. Quinnipiac loses 4-0 to Brown.

All of our prospects are eliminated now.

Rieder with 2A in the Rangers 5-2 win over guelph. He is playing center on the top line with Faksa on the second line.

Unlikely to impossible. He hasn't played a single game for Germany beyond the junior level and I can't even think of a German player who played major junior and was nominated for any kind of meaningful tournament. Coaches don't really nominate players who they haven't been able to use all year unless they are established NHL-players.

It would be nice to see him get a chance, but I can't really see the coaches having much interest in him, especially if he wouldn't be available when camp starts.

The teams in the NCAA Tournament were announced last night.

Quinnipiac(Jones), NoDak(Simpson) and Denver(LaLeggia) made it in.

They all have pretty favourable Regional Semi-Final match-ups this coming Fri/Sat, but I don't think any of the potential Regional Finals on Sat/Sun look good for them.

I agree. For the type of game he will be groomed for, I'd say it is definitely the best path considering he needs to fill out (6'3 196 last I heard). Mild schedule and access to college weight rooms should have this kid around 215 by the time he leaves school.

There was a police report filed against Edmonton prospect the other day for threatening a fan on facebook but it was quickly dropped. Gustafsson claimed someone had hacked his phone and the police went on his line.
Looking at what was written it seems like Gustafsson is telling the truth, the threats look like they come from an anonymous 14 year old not from a 21 year old professional athlete whose name can be seen. So either his phone really got hacked or Gustafsson is the most stupid athlete since Mike Tyson.

Links in swedish:
http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportblade...cle16493560.ab

http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportblade...cle16500137.ab

Basically he or the hacker answered someone writing how **** he was this season with childish threats in the style of "me and my friends are coming to kick your ass".
As stated above my gut feeling is to believe Gustafsson, haven't gotten the vibe of a complete tool from him, on the other hand he wouldn't be the first young athlete to act like an idiot.

Joey Laleggia and the Denver Pioneers lost 5-2 last night to New Hampshire, so they're done.

Dillon Simpson and North Dakota beat Niagara 2-1 last night and move on to play Yale tonight.

The Jones bros and Quinnipiac play Canisius tonight.

With the prospects from 2011 needing to be signed, Does Samu Perhonen get a contract? I remember he was highly touted a couple years ago, but he hasn't put up great stats..

Kale Kessy had a hat trick tonight as the Kamloops Blazers beat the Victoria Royals 6-2 to win the series in 6 games.

Next up is Kelowna or Spokane, depending on the Kelowna v Seattle series.

Looks like he's doing well. He was top 10 in scoring for dmen in the Allsvenskan league. Of those top 10 he was 2nd youngest as well... only Mikael Wikstrand was younger.

Looks like the Oilers might have made a solid choice. A couple more years in the SEL should further his development.

THis one is a bit late, but Zharkov with 1g 1A in the 3-1 series clincher over Missassauga. He had 5 points in the 6 games in that series.

Good question. They probably would have signed him and sent him to OKC by now.

OKC brought in Joey Leach (another big tough defenceman) from Kootenay on an AHL tryout.

It kinda looks like they're letting him walk. Maybe they'll sign him in the summer after a few other contracts expire. I guess he'd become a UFA at that time.

Scouting reports of Gustafsson have been all over the map this year. Some people are saying he's playing well, others are saying he's the worst dman in the league. Not sure what to believe.

Moving to Frolunda should help.

There's no rush to sign Bigos yet.

He might be finishing his degree.

Good, I didn't see him this year but the few times that I have seen him I haven't thought to myself "there's a guy that should leave school early to pursue a pro career".

Seen him play a couple of times too, he is not ready for the NHL, and why not get his degree in his last year of school. He is a few years from the NHL. Hopefully they do better next year and get a nickname.
