Flanagan had an assist taken away. he's now 1g and 3a for 4pts in 4gms.

akeson scored his 15 the other day setting an ahl high for him and did so in 23 less games. he's now at 45pts in 53 games.

Noebels also scored his 11 goal the other day in 34 games. he's not exactly tearing up the ahl but the team as a whole really struggles to score plus he's a 20 yo in his first pro yr.

Taylor Leier finished the regular season with 62 pts (27g and 35a) in 64 games. He was also a +41 on the year. Thats a great improvement over his previous season where he finished with 37pts in 72 games (13g and 24a) and a +10. Leier also has a goal and 2 assists in his 5 po games so far.

he is playing on a pretty stacked team so i don't really know what to think about some of those numbers.

They forgo personal stats at the expense of being the ultimate role player.

Laughton is perhaps the best defensive forward in junior hockey right now, bar none. The job he's done in Oshawa is nothing short of incredible. A point per game player, a demon defensive forward often given the tough assignments of shutting down the opposition's top players, a dynamite player in the face off circle, one of the top penalty killers in the CHL and now cementing himself as a top performer in the post season (his shut down job of Ryan Strome was nothing short of brilliant).

As for Cousins, a Patrick Kaleta type he certainly isn't. His hockey IQ and hands are off the chart. He was a point per game player in his draft year, was over a point per game last year and was a 100 point this year. 291 points in 264 OHL games. He has more skill in his pinky than Kaleta has in his entire body.

I'll admit that Cousins isn't the greatest of skaters in terms of speed and of course, there's also the pending court case. With that being said, Cousins is gritty, not afraid to get his nose dirty and always works in the corners. His shot needs some work but he sees the ice incredibly well and knows where to be on the ice at all times. You can't teach that.

Maybe I'm overvaluing our prospects, but at the same time, I also think people under value them.
Oh I agree on all points, but being a great defensive player doesn't warrant top 10 status. But lets be honest here, it's easier to teach a player to play defensive hockey than it is to teach offensive talent. I'm not saying that its easy to be a defensively great player by any means, but offensive instinct is more of a natural gift, thus warrants higher status.

Maybe Patrick Kaleta is a bad comparison. But that still doesn't change my feeling that cousins game won't translate to the nhl. I could be wrong of course, I just don't see it.

We can hope. It will be good for him to get some professional trainers to help him with the Phantoms

The collegiate trainers at Union are much better than what the phantoms have.

Professional trainers. More games. Less juggling of school work and more time on being in shape and playing more games and getting better. The AHL can do that better for him than at college.

Umm not really in the slightest (coming from someone who played in college sports and knows athletic trainers). Just because the phantoms are bad doesn't mean their trainers are. Next season with the team adding a full year Flanagan, Cousins, Alderson, maybe Ghost, plus getting rid of some of the lesser players they could turn it around.

Also he changed his tweet to seniors. Maybe it was a mistake or maybe the Flyers told him not to say a trying yet (as in they told him they want to sign him, he agrees, but nothing is done)

Sault Ste. Marie lost 4-3 tonight and lost the series 4-2 to Owen Sound. Cousins and Alderson should be signing their ATO's and joining Adirondack within the next couple of days.

As much as I like Cousins for being one of our top prospects, this is his 2nd year in a row with a first round exit.

Stat wise he seems to dissapear come crunch time. It's not that the Greyhounds don't have a competitive squad.

Don't like it.

Cousins was hardly the problem. He had a four point night the other day.

Nick cousins? He racks up points in juniors as a 19 year old, but plays far from a complete game and isn't strong enough to be in contention for a top 10 prospect ranking.
I would have been shocked if Cousins made top 30 let alone top 10. I really don't see what so many around here see in him. I don't think his offensive game translates to the NHL level whatsoever. He might serve as a Patrick Kaleta type player though...

It's a top 50 list... not just a top 10. Did you forget to click the links at the bottom to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pages?

In that case.

Laughton will, I think, but HF lists tend to be pretty heavily biased toward draft position, how many guys from that top 50 were picked after the 2nd round?

After Laughton, Gostisbehere, Cousins, Stolarz there is a huge gap.

Just drops off a cliff at that point.

Taylor Leier had a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win over Everett tonight. Portland wins the series 4-2.

Laughton and Oshawa play against the Barrie Colts starting on Wednesday. Stolarz and the Knights play against the Kitchener Rangers starting on Friday.
